1. Thanks for posting this
It saddens me to see my democratic reps name on that list. (Taylor - MS)

No doubt the gop smear machine is already making commercials about the ones who voted no.

I will be e-mailing my rep, Jerrold Nadler (NY), and thanking him.

3. I knew my rep (Biggert) would be on there. The only time she
shows up for anything is to put in a vote whichever way the majority wants her to go. :puke:

14. yes, but what was our alternative?
I agree it is only an incremental step from the REPUGS we've had before, but it is at least one step in the right direction. Opposing Lieberman in a primary in a liberal-to-moderate state like Connecticut, is one thing (which I strongly agree with). But, in a state that was red through and through, you can't turn the tide over night.

I'm not trying to get pissy, but these kind of arguments about DINOS need to be focused FIRST on those thoroughly blue states--can you say NY? CA? To castigate CO for "knowingly voting for DINO brothers" shows a naivete' that is ridiculous for a long term DU member, IMO. I strongly believe you know better, Otohara.

20. I Was A Delegate
Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 11:10 AM by otohara
for Mike Miles - At the state convention, Mike Miles was the winner. We had a choice and CO chose to go the safe route, Salazar made Mike Miles out to be a liberal boogeyman, just like Lieberman is doing in Conn.

Ken Salazar had to stand up at the Denver convention stage and promise he wouldn't flip to GOP once elected like Nightmare Campbell did. That's how republican Salazar is.

I won't be voting for Ken Salazar again. He continually does the opposite of what the democrats of colorado want.

Don't be calling me names or speak down to me.

Edited on Fri Jun-16-06 12:04 PM by hlthe2b
Maybe it is the heat, but it seems DU as a community is increasingly on edge with each other. Otohara, I did not call you any name.

I am responding to what I perceive to be "the black and white" philosophy emerging among some progressives, that DEMS must be in total lockstep with their own beliefs or else they are worthless--no shades of gray. While you come from CO and know the score, more often this blanket criticism comes from BLUE Staters, for whom the situation is not clearly understood, IMO. I get tired--as do many red/purple State activists in being painted with such a broad brush with the implication we "got what we deserved and voted for."

And, no, I do not defend Salazar (Ken-for his support of Bush* court nominees among other issues)nor certainly Lieberman. And, I did support Mike Miles, (though I was not a delegate I am active in my own district). So, I understand your frustration on that score. Having said that, I do believe that you would distinguish strategic efforts in red states versus those in blue. Left with a choice of Salazar or the Repuggies, I repeat: what choice did we have? At least, on some issues, Salazar supports our objectives. With this incremental step, we need to move towards more progressive candidates, like Mike Miles. In contrast, CT is doing what is very appropriate to their situation: demand a true DEM and no DINOs.

31. appreciate the understanding...
We get enough kicks in the teeth from the PUGS in red/purple states without having to always answer to fellow progressives for not being able to turn around a state overnight. It certainly doesn't mean we aren't trying.

It's true. I grew up in Indiana. Now I am in NYC but I have family there in Indiana and friends and see the tide is starting to turn there too. It's a process that takes time.

23. What in the hell is wrong with Dennis Moore?
This session of Congress has put Moore on my permanent shit list.

He voted *for* the bankruptcy bill
He voted *against* net neutrality and *for* Sprint - which is in his district and gives him $$$

And now he votes for this piece of shit?

I know we need to take the House in November, but Jesus Christ is it going to be hard to vote for this fucking DINO.

His district includes Johnson County Kansas, you can't get a more conservative, affluent or yuppy near the Kansas City metropolitan area then Johnson County.

25. Not exactly...
Many of the Republicans here are moderate and Moore almost always gets their votes - because the GOP keeps running crazed extremist wingnuts against him.

It's also not all that conservative - I've done canvassing here and there are actually quite a few registered Democrats.

His votes lately have been all about big business and screwing his constituents whatever their party affiliation. I'm sick of our bought-and-paid-for government.
