Maliki aide that suggested amnesty for those who attacked US troopsResigns

BAGHDAD, June 15 -- Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki's office Thursday accepted the resignation of an aide who had told a reporter that Maliki was considering a limited amnesty that would likely include guerrillas who had attacked U.S. troops, the aide said.

The aide, Adnan Ali al-Kadhimi, stood by his account, reported in Thursday's issue of The Washington Post. Kadhimi said Maliki himself had indicated the same position less directly in public.

"The prime minister himself has said that he is ready to give amnesty to the so-called resistance, provided they have not been involved in killing Iraqis," Kadhimi said Thursday.

1. He resigned after Republicans defended the position?
Cool.

4. Devil's in the details.
Amnesty v. 0.9 beta = amnesty for all insurgents, including those that killed Americans and Iraqis of all stripes.

Amnesty v. 1.0 release = amnesty for all insurgents, except those that killed Americans and Iraqis of all stripes.

Amnesty 1.0 was approved by repubs and al-Maliki. V. 0.9 was considered ... and finally rejected. The chief software architect was terminated and will not stay resident.

2. LOL, so he resigned after bush, in effect, supported this amnesty
in his news conference after his Iraq photo-op. Sam Seder just played bush's response to the proposed amnesty. Sam was excellent in his commentary on this.

I can't wait to hear Tony Snowjob's explanation of bush's comments in support of the amnesty of those who kill US soldiers, should be interesting, lol.

3. This whole thing is just bizarre.
The reasons the repukes give for supporting amnesty don't even make any sense. I don't get it.
