I just made a contribution to TruthOut and boy do I feel good about it.
Last time I looked---TruthOut is on the side of the progressive community and in my opinion we need more sites like TruthOut.

What--- I'm going to stop contributing to this great site because of one incident? Now that would be pretty petty ya think?

Here's the link to donate to TruthOut.

https://secure.entango.com/donate/pkXd5Fr9GE4

It made me feel pretty damn good when I donated because I've always been taught to help a friend when they are down--- it's the right thing to do.

Oh--- and for those who plan on jumping in this thread to start some flame throwing--- Pretty please with sugar on top... don't..

better?

1. Not a flame, just a question.
How do you stand on TruthOut refusing to out the sources that made up the "Rove indicted" story?

I can see both sides. The need to protect sources is valid (and probably the most inmportant issue). However, "sources" that spread bad information of this magnitude might deserve to be outed.

I'm torn.

3. I trust their judgement.
I've read TruthOut from their very first days and have found them a wonderful source of info. Like I said---I'm not going to give up on them because of this one incident.

9. Why not answer the question posed?
Of course you don't HAVE to. I'm just curious why you chose a non-answer (to the question posed).

If they don't want to out their sources--- so fucking what? Ya think I'll lose sleep over it?

5. I've stayed out of this
As I do most such things, and I probably still should, but you know what? I think I'll send a donation as well. I just mosey'd over there and read over TO, and it's looking good.
I'll direct my rage and resources against Bush and his cabal, and almost every Republican I can think of at this point. My rights are being assualted at every turn. My soldiers are dying in a useless war. My taxes are being mishandled and misused. My elderly are being left out. My children are being left behind. My brothers and sisters are left without healthcare. On and on.

('Sides, you made me laugh.)

6. Their Fog of Words has me a bit perplexed.
in this whole Rove thing.
They don't seem to have the capability to communicate very well.

If you want to read real journalists like Palast and Hersh, etc., that TO has links to, you can find them in many other places.

I'll stick to what I am comfortable with. I've been using TO for the last couple of years for most of my info and I will continue to do so.

original content for TO haven't been tarnished by this Leopold story?

21. I think this type of thread
is inappropriate, but I just asked a question unrelated to that feeling. Is there any original content produced by TO other than that written by Ash, Pitt, and Leopold?

If so great, I'm sure TO would love for you to point that out to all of their detractors here.

31. they were never my friends in the first place
They were an occasional source of info.

If you know of any of TO's friends that have turned their backs I urge you to talk to them.

Do you not know the names of their contributers?

27. Curious as to why you "think this type of thread is inappropriate".
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 04:59 PM by havocmom
Really, I would like to know why you feel a thread supporting a source of news that has a better track record than many, or even most, others is inappropriate.

Were there slurs or bigoted linguistic terms involved? Did the OP suggest giving to the GOP? Did it include a warrantless bashing of people? What?

Or is trying to limit discussions one just doesn't like the problem? Yeah, that's inappropriate. Oh, but that wasn't what the OP was doing, was it?

edited for typo

32. I personally think fund raising
for another blog here when DU fund raises is inappropriate. Especially considering the crap DU has been put through based on this story and its actors.

But as you can clearly see that wasn't the point of the question.

Do you not think TO would find it valuable if DU was reminded of all the other original reporting they do?

22. I'll save my contributions for places that don't publish as fact w/o proof
... and whose writers don't jump down the throats of anyone who dares question the integrity of baseless claims. As a passionate Democrat, truth is a strong ideal that I hold dear.

And, know what? I feel good about that. :toast: to feeling all warm n fuzzy.
