Wow. Bush didn't choke on a pretzel, didn't fall off of a segway...
Edited on Thu Jun-15-06 01:12 PM by tjwash
...didn't say "bring it on", didn't lie about Iraq having noo-koo-ler weapons 15 minutes away from being launched at Los Angeles, didn't ignore reports about terrorists hijacking and flying airplanes into U.S. Landmarks, didn't sit with a deer in the headlights stare for 20 minutes while the WTC burned and crumbled, didn't say "support the troops" while cutting veterans benefits, didn't try and steal social security, didn't hand out blatant no-bid contracts to his cronies, didn't give his filthy rich pals at the oil and power companies obscenely large tax cuts, didn't try to push through legislation making him above the laws of the land, didn't get caught red handed wire tapping American civilians, didn't attempt to out a covert CIA agent,

didn't look the other way and state that "there is no evidence that oil companies are price gouging people at the pump"

didn't go on vacation and ignore a major metropolitan city getting destroyed by a category 5 hurricane,

didn't run white-house propaganda as TV ads heavily photo-shopped to clone soldiers to show "how the troops love him",

Didn't have his thugs circulate fliers in African American communities to suppress votes,

and didn't have his brown-shirts disrupt the Democratic process in Florida.

:rofl:No wonder his approval rating skyrocketed a whole ONE PERCENT.

Note to the lurking 37 per-centers; Conservatism means fiscal responsibility, government out of your lives, out of your business, and out of your bedroom, less involvement in foreign affairs, and more involvement in generating domestic economic opportunities. It does NOT mean fleecing the nation, getting our people killed for the control of oil, murdering innocent people, shifting the direction of our economy back to the dark un-prosperous days of Herbert Hoover and destroying the middle and lower classes of this country to benefit the rich & elite.

If the latter is what you believe Conservatism is, maybe you should consider moving to a place that is more along your ideology. Geidi Prime, or Mordor come to mind...

4. I don't think you can ever say that enough.
Hate is an ugly thing, but some people can't be put in any other emotion.

12. Chimpy earns every single ounce of hatred, he deserves all of it.
And more.

15. I have learned something. about hate.
it consumes you more than the target.

don't get me wrong, I still have no regard and despise the creature.
and thanks to him, the few people in my personal that I have in the past thought I 'hated', aren't really at all.
He was the yardstick and all really fall short of it.

but * is just a symbol, a scarecrow. he was chosen because he is so hateable and malleable. I think he was conditionally brought up like that. Don't even think he has any real power of his own.

3. Totalitarian Rome
with all of its decadence, corruption, injustice, hubris, war mongering and ineptitude at the top. America has become Rome.

6. I'm so glad you reminded everybody
after all, if he HAD done all those things, and the Congress refused to challenge dubious claims of executive power, and the courts let the president usurp even the power of the judiciary, then one might think we were quickly becoming a fascist country. It is also helpful to point out that his family never had any business dealings with Hitler, and that his father wisely let Dubya suffer the consequences of all of his many failings while growing up.

It's a good thing you reminded us, and that surely accounts for the tremendous surge in his popularity. As a woman, by the way, I think I speak for many of us when I applaud his efforts to be sure that we can control our own bodies, and that our children receive common sense sex education, rather than foolishly pretending that abstinence only is a failure. I might also point out his efforts to make sure the government fully supports, and funds, stem cell research, something that could save many lives, and make many other lives better.

There's lots more, too, but my fingers are tired. Again, thanks for the reminder.

7. For his supporters, he hasn't
For those that still support him, he hasn't done any of those things. And for those that are still republicans, they haven't done any of those things or turned a blind eye while others in thier party did.

Facts are irrelvant. Reality has a well known Liberal Bias.

Truth doesn't matter. Becuase they beleive and opinions can't ever be wrong (except the Liberal ones)

The fate of the country is a side issue. Because WINNING is all that counts.

Yes indeed, when you are a Conservative, Stupidity, Willfull Ignorance, Hypocrasy and Jingoism are thier own rewards.

Bitter? Moi!?

Well maybe because I used to beleive that this country stood for great things. And now I understand that only HALF of the country stands for those things.

10. Geidi Prime?
I always thought all the corruption amongst the Houses of the Landsraad ultimately started from machination within the Imperial residence on Corrin. You could be right, though. Damn Harkonnens.

11. The Harkonnens trade mark was they wanted to make their own rules.
While pulling themselves up by their own bootstraps they flattened everyone else. Like Republicans whatever might have been attractive about them descended into self indulgence and perversion.

13. Hey, fellow Dune Heads!!
You would be surprised how many people don't get my Geidi-Prime reference. And of course the Spice being the perfect oil parallel, on a desert planet, ultra dangerous to acquire, Small roving factions of "insurgents", and of course the fact that none of the trade ships would be able to move through folded space without it.

Herbert had a bead into todays world when he wrote those books...

But isn't Rove too damn corpulent to make a good Piter deVries? The book always gave the impression of a kind of angular skinny dude. Oh wait. Maybe the Baron is Rush Limbaugh and Piter will be played by the other angular skinny dude, Ann Coulter.
