If the "left" is only a small fringe of the Party and the DLC and the moderates are the over-whelming majority in the Party, shouldn't Lieberman be far out in front with no worries about getting re-elected? How do they explain Lamont's popularity if the "left" is such a small contingent of the Party? Shouldn't they just ignore this small contingent of "leftists"?

1. The DLC is in the twilight of its usefulness, such as it was
and that is why Lieberman is in the fight of his life.

People are sick of having their interests ignored or betrayed by Eisenhower Repugs in our party pretending to be moderate instead of conservative.

Why do you think so many Democrats have stayed home on election day? Why do you think an unabashed economic progressive like Brian Schweitzer won a heavily GOP state like Montana?

They're done. They're entrenched, though, so don't expect them to go gracefully.

2. Reality is not something that people like that take into consideration.

They are only a very thin wall away from the Repukes.

Reality is what they want it to be.
Remember the interview in the Sunday Times Magazine in which the Repuke said they make their own reality? These Dems do the same thing.

That is why it isimportant to get a bigger turnout in the primaries, and in the main elections!!!!

3. Over the last few years the left has been fighting back
and the DLC has been weakening. It was actually at its peak during Clinton's term in office but has weakend considerably since then.

6. I "get" what you are saying, but never fear...
the DLC has the support of the GOP in determining who the democratic candidates will be. Somehow, Lieberman will be shoved down our throats, either with crooked voting machines or by some other manipulation. After he wins the primary we dems will be reassured that the 'centrist" dems came out in massive numbers to support him.

7. Citidels of Sand Still Crumble
Me thinks the DLC and many of us over estimated thier importance.

And if Schumer is really willing to throw away the will of the voters by throwing the election (as it seems he is) then that only reinforces my beleif that it's not all the imcumbants that lose thier jobs this november are Republican.

Sorry if this rankles some people..but really, what good does it do to "control" the congress if the Dem leaders act like Republicans?
