Olberman Apologizes for telling Freeper Moran to Kill Himself
http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/426803p-360015c.html

<snip>

Olbermann's antagonists, who asked not to be named, repeatedly claimed in their June 8 E-mails that dead Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was Olbermann's "hero," prompting the television star to advise: "Hey, save the oxygen for somebody whose brain can use it. Kill yourself."

After I forwarded that and other E-mails to an MSNBC exec, Olbermann wrote: "I apologize to anyone who might take offense at my part of this correspondence. It goes without saying that I should not have replied to these abusive and hateful E-mails, but I wonder how many of us could receive literally hundreds of them questioning our patriotism, religion and ethnic origin, without succumbing to the natural wish to confront such hate?"

Other Responses by Olbermann.

<snip>

"Given how far you are from knowing your a- from your elbow about my industry, you couldn't be stupider, wronger, or dumber ..."

"Go - your mother."

"You 'Americans' still watching that evil f- O'Reilly?"

3. Well, there the media goes again...
Attack a liberal on ANYTHING and elicit an apology and it is all over for that liberal. That's all they want...to show libs apologize because they can then be made to look weak.

Of course, on those rare occasions when a conservative apologizes they are praised and lionized and made into heroes.

I can understand KO apologizing for what he said about Rita Cosby - no matter how he feels she is a coworker. In fact I've heard of newspeople in local media serving a suspension for such remarks. H'mmm wonder if KO is really on vacation this week.

On the emailers - he should just say they're idiots and move on.

People Harass Keith Olbermann; He Responds; And Lloyd Grove Prints The Responses
When individuals insult and taunt Keith Olbermann, he responds.

Lloyd Grove says: "Olbermann's antagonists, who asked not to be named, repeatedly claimed in their June 8 E-mails that dead Al Qaeda terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was Olbermann's 'hero,' prompting the television star to advise: 'Hey, save the oxygen for somebody whose brain can use it. Here is Olbermann's apology: "I apologize to anyone who might take offense at my part of this correspondence. It goes without saying that I should not have replied to these abusive and hateful E-mails, but I wonder how many of us could receive literally hundreds of them questioning our patriotism, religion and ethnic origin, without succumbing to the natural wish to confront such hate?"

> An e-mailer says: "Let me get this right: Two people keep emailing Keith Olbermann in order to harass him, and then send his equally insulting responses back to Lloyd Grove. And Grove will not reveal the antagonists' names?!?! Way to be balanced."

16. This has me very worried. IMO he is being set up. Apparently Raspy
brainless Rita was the subject matter of another KO e-mail, and she's not too happy about it. Last night I checked out the KO site to find reference to IMUS, who was literally drooling over KO's substitute the other morning. I found it unusual, and worrisome. He mentioned that this guy should take Abrams spot, but my antennas were up. I never listen to that jerk (ANUS) so I just accidentally caught a small portion of his vile program. I didn't find reference to the IMUS remark, but did find out about the Rita remark. I'll post the link in a tad.

Anyone else know about this Imus remark? If so, are you concerned?

20. Sure with a change in management at MSNBC
I'd be worried. And Zucker has said he wants more crime covered on MSNBC - that's sure Rita's speciality. Though remember she's not getting ratings and they moved Scarborough's show to her old time slot cause she was losing viewers off the Countdown leadin. Note that Scarborough even though he's an ex congressman covers a lot of crime as well. And on Fridays they blow off Scarborough and Rita for crime/prison shows. I also hate they do force Countdown to spend the 2nd half of the show covering the celebrity or light news crap - I usually do other things that half hour till Worst Person in the World bit.

29. What do you make of the Imus remark? I can't remember the name
of KO's stand-in, but I'm sure that Scarborough was almost solicitous to him last night when he ended the program and led into Joe. He seemed much more friendly than he usually is with Keith. I might just be paranoid.

54. I've heard Imus make snarky remarks about Olbermann on the air.
We'll see if there is a set of double standards. BTW, do you guys recall Rita's racist remark on Hardball about the Democrats in which she linked "African Americans" with "hoodlums" and "convicted felons"? Want proof that she is stupid?

COSBY: And I also like what the Democrats are doing. I mean talk about a wacky thing. They are going after the, quote, “hoodlum vote.” I mean, that I think is very racist. Clearly they are going after the African-American vote, and I think on both sides it's pretty offensive.

MATTHEWS: Back up a notch. Going after the hoodlum vote?

COSBY: Yes, they're going after the felons. They are going after the convicted felons. They are going after these rosters saying that some of these felons should be able to vote.

NYDN gossip: Olbermann: Rita Cosby "dumber than a suitcase of rocks"
NY Daily News "Daily Dish," Lloyd Grove
It's 'Putdown With Keith Olbermann'

Now that Dan Abrams has given up his MSNBC show to run the third-place cable news outlet, he might want to focus on the rising tensions between two of his prime-time personalities: Keith Olbermann and Rita Cosby.

Olbermann, whose "Countdown With Keith Olbermann" airs weeknights at 8, apparently has precious little respect for Cosby, whose "Rita Cosby: Live & Direct" airs at 10 p.m.

"Rita's nice," Olbermann wrote to a fan from his MSNBC E-mail account, "but dumber than a suitcase of rocks." Yesterday Cosby retorted: "Keith got it wrong. I'm not that nice."

But a Cosby intimate gasped when informed of Olbermann's E-mail. "That's incredibly disappointing," he said.

An MSNBC spokesman didn't dispute the authenticity of the months-old E-mail, which came to light this week after the recipient shared it with this column on condition of anonymity....

48. my email to viewerservices@msnbc.com:
To Whom It May Concern:

In the past week or so, I have wondered where Keith Olbermann, my favorite news anchor, has been. I have been a big fan ever since he started covering serious news concerning the Iraq War, White House, Congressional corruption and more. Today I have learned that Keith is in hot water due to some unfortunate emails he sent in response to Free Republic types (freepers) who were apparently abusive and antagonizing to him. This is the article I read: http://www.nydailynews.com/front/story/426803p-360015c.html.

Note that there are no emails from KO’s antagonists for the public to read what he was responding so vehemently to, so the public is getting only one side of the emailed story.

Most of us know to be careful with our emails, especially in the workplace, in terms of tone and content. Apparently, KO was not too careful. That being said, I hope that KO’s apology will suffice and he will again be restored to his Countdown anchor post to provide viewers with important news coverage.

Please let Keith know I support him wholeheartedly. He makes MSNBC an interesting place to be.

Sincerely,

Wordpix in CT

36. What's with all the Olberman email stories lately?
Why is this one gossip columnist receiving this stuff? Odd.

You know, instead of having his emails leaked, Olberman should just compile it all into a book. That way, people will be "shocked" by his language but won't think an apology is necessary because he's politically "commenting" on people who's politics/beliefs differ from his. What would he call this book? Godless? No, already taken. Brainless? Yes, Brainless will work just fine.

It's one of the things the bullies do: provoke you into throwing the first punch (if only metaphorically), so that you are made to look like the bad guy.
