...become involved in getting people registered and mobilized to vote this year. The republicans are gloating in the knowledge that 'they" WILL win this November. We have to see that this doesn't happen. We DO have the numbers.

4. Sometimes I think for the average Repub
it's more like they're cheering their "team" on. They're gonna win! Dems gonna lose! Na na na, hey hey hey, goodbye!

I wish someone would explain to them (and to some Democrats, unfortunately) that democracy isn't a fucking sport.:eyes:

10. I just came up with that very theory yesterday.
Driving behind a truck with a W sticker, Support our Troops magnet, God Bless America sticker, LSU sticker and Saints sticker.

And come to think of it, back in 2000 after the SCOTUS election decision when a Repub was gloating at me, I said "this was not a friggin' football game, this is a decision that will affect every American's lives for the next 4 years!".

That's it, why Repubs won't look at the big picture or change their minds. It's like giving up on your favorite sports team. So what if the Patriots lost all their games this year? They'll win the Super Bowl next year! Diehards to the end.

13. Not to steal your thunder, but that perspective is VERY old...
... certainly going back to English Parliament, and possibly back to Greece.

It's tied up with what Digby talks about as "tribalism".

3. Washington Journal is being a little disingenuous this morning.
Splitting the calls evenly between those who agree with Chucklenuts and people who are against the war gives the impression the American people are split 50/50 on the issue. Of course, that assumption is totally wrong as 65-67% of the American people are against this war, want out, etc. By giving equal time to a much smaller minority they are allowing the warmongers to appear as they are stronger than they are.

And I'd bet my ex husband's left nut there is a concerted effort by the repugs to get out the calls this morning and flood C-Span with their usual misinformation.

And, somebody, please, tell Henry Hyde that he is senile and needs to go home.

8. If I had an opportunity to tell Hyde something that would be down the list
I am still burnt up that Cegalis isn't the candidate for that seat! I will never forgive the DCCC for that little stunt. If I ever have the opportunity to piss on Rahm Emanuel's leg, believe me, I'll leap upon it!

Today in the House to promises to be quite farcical, with Dreier's Rules Committee working it's usual bs and preventing any meaningful debate on the subject. But we will have five hours to talk about the Iraq situation so there will be some great oratory, if nothing else.

7. Why are you adding a smile to that?
I don't believe that the Dems aren't going to go to the polls at all!
I think it's the other way around.

I hope the pigs stay away in droves!!

11. Life has taught me that things usually go in cycles...
For a short while recently, the cycle seemed to be favoring the Democrats. Yay! we all thought...it's about damned time we got a break here.

And then, WHAM! along comes a week where the Republicans seem to be favored in the lucky break arena.

I think this may go on for a few weeks, but I really believe the cycle will return to favoring Democrats in the period before the election.
