Apparently we're going to invade Baghdad again
Edited on Tue Jun-13-06 03:30 PM by Jersey Devil
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Iraq’s new prime minister promised “no mercy” for terrorists Tuesday as President Bush paid a surprise visit to Baghdad on the eve of a security crackdown involving 75,000 troops, road closures and a curfew.

Prime Minister Nouri Al-Maliki, who didn’t know Bush was coming until five minutes before they met, said that Iraq was “determined to succeed, and we have to defeat terrorists and defeat all the hardships.”

Security officials said Iraqi and multinational forces would deploy Wednesday throughout Baghdad, securing roads, launching raids against insurgent hideouts, and calling in airstrikes if necessary.

I guess Bush is determined to keep doing it until we get it right!
Of course, this is what the military was telling him to do over 3 years ago, to overwhelm them with force of numbers, but they also told him they'd need 300,000 to 400,000 soldiers to do it. My take is that all it will accomplish is to put a whole bunch more of our soldiers in harms way, then some will get killed and we'll bomb the crap out of Baghdad (again), killing more innocent civilians and recruiting more jihadists for al Qaeda, and then, if if doesn't work, by gum, Bush'll do it one more time.

4. Halliburton needs a strong Q3
All of this is motivated by the fact that war is so goddamned proffitable (for the right people). Mix in the Psycho-Christian-Holy-War motivating factor, and your looking at decades of strong quarterly returns.

7. Yep, it's a major offensive on two fronts
I just read we're also involved in a major offensive with 11,000 soldiers in the mountains in Afghanistan chasing after al qaeda (and presumably Bin Laden). He wants all guns a blazin' for the 'war president' who has no fear, and, given some more time with a Repub majority, will absolutely, positively, without a doubt, track down and personally kill and skin Bin Laden, you bet! :sarcasm:

8. they really are going to win it!
between the bombs, the dehydration, the starvation, the rounding-up of all the men, and leaving the women with dreadfully-mutated DU babies, if they keep this up there will be nobody left in Iraq to shoot back at us!

Now pardon me while I :puke::puke::puke::puke::puke::puke:
