Horowitz was a stalinist crackpot back when he was the self appointed leader of the new left as editor in chief of ramparts magazine. He was going to lead the revolution. When that didn't happen and he couldn't be in charge of political purity from the left, he just jumped right over to the right. What most likely motivated his ideological shift was MONEY. It turns out that nobody was going to pay him to be a pompous asshole spouting idiotic leftist drivel, but there were many, many rightwing propaganda operations opening up, all with deep pockets, just looking for pompous assholes to spume idiotic rightest drivel. So now dave is the self appointed leader of rightwing political purity. He thinks he is riding the wave to power with the theofascist cabal. I remember watching that he was on Book TV one time, doing a talk about intellectual freedom at universities.

I was one his side until one student raised a quesiton about Ann Coulter. Without even letting the guy finish his question, that SOB dismissively talked about how his question was "an attack on Ann Coulter" (it wasn't). It pissed the hell out of me.

I mean, if you like Coulter and her hateful rhetoric, that's one thing. But to dismiss a person's question without letting him finish as "an attack on Coulter" was, in my opinion, very telling.

He should have remained liberal. It looks as though turning RW makes you lose about 100 IQ points.
