“I am a patriot,” Hart began, and, waving a copy of the Constitution ala Robert Byrd, explained that the difference between his patriotism and that of George Bush is that “I believe in the Constitution.”
Hart spoke about how he believes we will not win back the Congress and the White House until we are able to convince the public that we are stronger on national security than the Republicans.
He said that there are those in this Republican administration who want to demonize foreign countries like Russia and China, but the only way China is any real threat to this country is if they decide to reclaim their debts.
He spoke about how warfare of the 21st century is primitive and barbaric, about Vets returning home and not receiving support from this administration, how DHS is a total disaster, and how FEMA failed because the administration doesn’t believe in government.
Hart explained that we can and should bring home the National Guard, and that we are vulnerable because they are not here to protect us in the event of a real threat.
He said, regarding Iraq, that either the president was misled, in which case he should have fired the people responsible, or that he misled America.
Hart closed with the following:
“The security of this country will increase enormously when we have a president who obeys the constitution.”
