Poll question: Ann Coulter poll
Edited on Mon Jun-12-06 02:13 AM by Yollam
Forgive me for posting this, but I believe it's the first OP I've ever done about the scrawny harpy.

It's been at least a year or two since I stopped doing "mAnn Coulter" jokes. After learning a few things about just being respectful and sensitive from transgendered posters, I realized that it's not really all that funny to ridicule people based on their looking "too masculine" or "too feminine" or whatever. I used to think it was funny, but it only makes us look hypocritical, IMO.

And yet here we are, a couple of years later, and almost on a daily basis, I nee new posters saying things like "You know, I think that Ann Coulter is a Man! Haw Haw! Why she's got an Adam's apple! Haw! Haw!" etc. Like they thought of it themselves, and like it wasn't the oldest, tiredest joke in the book. It's not like there aren't other things to ridicule her for...

Okay, so where are you on the whole "Ann is a Man" jokes?

horrible anorexic.

But tired & worn-out humor-wise.

5. For all we know, she is not GLBT.
She is, however, well-known to be the personal hag of the very gay Matt Drudge, and they are regularly seen trolling the gay bars of South Beach, where both live. That makes her a bit of a hypocrite. I don't have a problem with mentioning that.

I personally don't think she really looks all that mannish. She's just skinny and has a deep voice, and is a total beeyotch.

8. Mann Coulter jokes
Yollam, I agree 100%. We are making ourselves look like hypocrits if we keep up with these immature jokes. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion. And while I think she has a horse-face, when debating politics, it is best not to emotionally charge the debate. It doesn't get you anywhere and it certainly isn't a very grown up thing to do!

7. I 'm only posting to say . . .
I don't know why we talk about this loudmouthed harridan at all. She's a sick woman -- that much is obvious -- And I've decided to stop getting so worked up about her. Just don't buy her crappy books and forget about her, I say.

10. Other: A combination of the above...
Man Coulter jokes are more old and tired than offensive,
and I'd rather just not hear about her.

12. Hey, thanks for posting this.
I had started to give up after constantly seeing these remarks. The transgendered I know in San Francisco have come here in search of refuge. Sometimes even here they can't. So often they have horrible stories kept away. The courage they show, sometimes on a daily basis, should be an inspiration to us all, and should shame Ann Coulter, who has the manners of a bully. Comparing her to people who've risked over and over again simply for a moment's peace is obscene.

13. Clarification
I voted they're not offensive to myself, but I completely understand how they would be to other people. I don't mind the reference mostly because I myself enjoy the benifits of an obscure masculine/feminine complete self, even though I elected not to follow through with the transition some time ago. The reasons for that are complicated and unrelated, so I won't bother with them.

I think mAnn Coulter works as a joke for us because of the likelihood of how seriousy *she* would dislike the idea. She has no qualms with name-calling and disingenious attacks on helpless people, so in some instance, turnabout is fair play, IMO.

never married, no kids, no boyfriend.

Who would want to marry a psychotic like her anyway? Coulter is a very disturbed individual.

edit: thank god she isnt breeding.

16. I think that IF she is intersexed or transgender
then her constant attacks on people with various other "differences" may be akin to closeted homosexuals making vile remarks about gays. Though these attacks would be driven by self-hate, that doesn't excuse them. And outing such people can sometimes be justified.

And so, in that sense, it may be relevant. But the idea would not be to cast aspersions on people of ambiguous gender, but to point out Coulter's hypocrisy.

I can overlook one or two questionable slips of the tongue. On the other hand, when someone spews filth every time they open their mouth then it's time for payback baby.:applause: I don't feel one bit bad about anything I or anyone else says about that pile of filthy mouthed :bounce: b.... t..... :bounce: but I do wish Liberals/Democrats would spend more time connecting the Mann Coulter dots back to neocons/fundies for the public.:applause:

18. I don't care if she is a she or a he--
it doesn't really matter, and calling her "Mann" isn't an insult to the Transgendered people I know. But then again, the people I know were long ago content with their identities, either way. To them, there isn't a whole lot of meanness attached to the comment, because they are secure in their identities. It's sort of like a joke based on someone's race, and isn't a personal insult. One of my dearest friends was Polish, and the Polish jokes never bothered her--it essentially was the same joke regardless of who the target was.

As far as the individual we know as AC, I've called her many things over the years, and harridan and skank are the two that I feel most suit her, though I would love to see a word invented that would define just her.

In truth, her skinniness kind of dismisses the notion that she might be a transgender, because someone who was originally a man would have a little more meat on his bones. The thinness which makes her look like a stick only emphasizes this, and makes her look more androgynous than transgendered. Certain proportional measurements show that her arms are too long for her body, though, and that she really doesn't have anything sexy about her figure or her brain. If she's 32-25-32, or somewhere in that vicinity, I would be surprised. She can't weigh more than 90 lbs soaking wet.

Compare her with Jamie Lee Curtis, who is rumored to have been born hermaphroditic (Snopes says it's not been proven or disproven) but altered enough to be raised a female. Even with the theory that she might be hermaphroditic, she has MORE of a woman's shape than Coulter could ever have. If you compare Coulter to an undeveloped girl of about 14, you will see a similar shape.

Whatever her sexual bias is, the fact is, no one except former (one-night-stand) boyfriends will ever know for sure, and they ain't talking--not so much that we would be interested in listening, though!

I doubt if anyone who calls her a man has anything against those who have actually undergone a gender change--it's more in pointing out her extreme prejudice and hypocrisy more than anything else. As I said, we really DO need a word to describe AC personally, one that we can ALL live with.

19. Imagine if Hannity had a broad nose, curlier hair and fuller lips...
...Would it be funny to say "I think Hannity is BLACK!" Ha! Ha! He's a BLACK! A person of color trying to pass for white! Ha! Ha!"

Since Hannity is a well-known race-baiter, would this be appropriate, considering?

20. The first option kinda misses the point
"I still think they're hilarious, not offensive, no holds barred, because she's the enemy."

She's the enemy, but its not her saying the jokes are offensive - it is our transgendered friends to whom she is being compared that are saying the jokes are offensive.

I don't care what she says - but I do care very deeply when friends of mine say they find my words hurtful even if I wasn't targeting them or even thinking about them at all when I said them.
