First Tropical Depression of the Season Headed for Florida
http://www.weather.com/

"Near the western tip of Cuba, poorly organized Tropical Depression 1 has formed with all the thunderstorms and torrential rain east of the center. Over the weekend if persistent convection can develop closer to the center of circulation, the tropical depression could become Tropical Storm Alberto. Some rain will hit the northeast Yucatan Peninsula, but the bulk of the heaviest rain will remain east of the tropical depression over the western half of Cuba where 10 to 30 inches are possible by early Monday. Deadly flash flooding and mudslides are likely. Grand Cayman reportedly picked up a whopping 22.72" of rain in the last 24 hours. From Sunday into Tuesday, the heavy rain will take aim on Florida and could become a great drought buster for much of the state...."

Projected path (map at site) takes it over western Florida and the panhandle.

2. The high pressure system over us in Texas will drive it
eastward, even though it is currently moving NNW, if I'm not mistaken.

I wouldn't mind the system coming to Texas for more rain that we need, but I don't want to take a chance on tons of rain and heavy wind hitting far southeast Texas or any of Louisiana.

9. Where are you? I'm along the middle of the texas gulf coast.
We got alot, and some areas did well, but had flash flooding. I wouldn't mind another downpour next week sometime. Once the burn bans were lifted, people were burning garbage out in the country for days.

6. Yes, they do seem to always change course.
But you might want to check your emergency kit out to be sure the duct tape and plastic and still good.

13. Don't worry TG, this one looks like a heavy rain maker...
...the N. Gulf is still too cool for much more than that to develop.

Below is a link to the Tropical Storm Force Wind Speed Probabilities - 120 Hours forecast, right now, you only have a 30% chance of getting TS force winds. Click the link below the graphic to get a larger view.

7. Ummm, it's already here. Much needed rain in the Keys.
I don't mind the early ones that don't turn into serious storms. They stir up the waters...the more stirred up the water, the longer it takes for it to get really warm. Hurricanes gain their intensity over extra warm water.
