Got one! Story of shutting up a freeper.

So, last night we were down at the local small town Pizza joint for the Friday night fish fry. Up on one of the three tv's they keep on all the time was, I guess CNN - this place is about the only time we ever see regular television - they were showing a weird 4 way split screen of the Alito hearings. I am sure it was some prejudicial way to imply overwhelming interrogation of Alito by making it look like they were all talking at once. Anyway Ted Kennedy was in the lower right hand corner and this bozo at the next table starts going on about shooting the guy on the lower right etc - joking around ha ha, says he couldn't even bother to rescue a drowning woman (wtf?) etc.

He was kind of loud and looks around and sees me looking at him, realizes the whole place might NOT be in agreement with him and starts to apologize. Husband sort of flashes him a peace sign and I go into my fake good ol' boy accent/routine and tell him "oh that's all right just want ta remind ya - ever hear of the president's wife's ex-boyfriend?" Raise my eyebrows in that "Mom caught you making an ass of yourself" look that I have cultivated over the last few teen years. Some at the table obviously knew what I was talking about and they kind of laughed at him and acknowledged that I scored a point after that the subject quickly changed. There was no acrimony but I got the point across that "his" side was NOT exactly clean and that he might want to think about that before he shoots off his dumb-ass mouth in public again. ahhhhh it was satisfying.

This was a big step for me - this is red, rural country. I have standing because my family has ranched here for over 120 years, BUT I didn't grow up here - so I am half way just a newcomer! (anybody living in rural areas will know what I am talking about)

I do drive around with various anti-bush bumperstickers including the circle and slash W, but the democraticunderground.com may be a puzzle and the "Haliburton - making a killing in Iraq" is probably WAY over most heads.....in fact they may think its pro! hahahahaha
