WorldNutDaily pushing propaganda to affect Ohio's Governor Race
Edited on Sat Jan-14-06 12:25 PM by ck4829
And conveniently, the darling of the Far Right, Moff Blackwell, is not "part of the scandal".

"In court filings obtained by WND, Hagan charged that Taft was able to raise so much more "because of his access to and use of recycled taxpayer dollars from unbid contracts."

Hagan's lawsuit also named Ohio's attorney general, Republican Jim Petro, and the state's current auditor, Betty Montgomery, as defendants, charging that they too participated in "pay to profit" kickback transactions.

Petro and Montgomery are contending with Ohio Secretary of State Ken Blackwell in the 2006 Republican gubernatorial primary.

Cleveland attorney Kenneth F. Seminatore, who filed the law suit on behalf of plaintiff Hagan, told WND that Blackwell was not named in the lawsuit because Seminatore could find no evidence he had ever participated in the kickback schemes."

How Convenient.

Yep, I know it's trash, but there are other WND stories that are trying to help out Blackwell.

I'm sick of this, I'm going to apply PLAN D (a real plan BTW) on the entirety of the Far Right.

I'm not going to let WorldNutDaily make Moff Blackwell the Governor of Ohio.

1. Hagan's lawsuit isn't legit, you mean?
WND would be expected to emphasize the part about Blackwell being left out. But even so, it's well known that Montgomery as attorney general handed out big unbid contracts to Republican contributors, and that both she and Petro are already implicated in a large corruption scandal.

You're not suggesting that Democrat Tim Hagan is pursuing this lawsuit against Taft, Montgomery and Petro for the sake of helping Blackwell, are you? I think the lawsuit is perfectly valid.

Though I, too, am worried about all the bigtime GOP support for Blackwell, I don't really think he can beat Strickland here in Ohio. Yes, it would be dangerous just to have him as nominee, but he's really just too much of a looney, too tied to Rod Parsley and the (pseudo-) Christian right, and besides, let's face it, the fact that he's black will make him a hard sell to a lot of Ohio voters. He's never been elected statewide except when his opponent was a black Democrat (which is why I'm glad Mike Coleman left the race). That's just how it is. There's also a LOT of Republican insiders in the state who hate Blackwell's guts because of his incredible arrogance and ruthlessness. So, I think Blackwell, despite all the hype from the far right, is headed for a big fall.

Of the Republican candidates, the least-bad of the three, IMO, is Petro, despite his involvement with corruption and his pandering to the (pseudo-)Christians, which is an attempt to offset Blackwell. However, he might also be the most formidable as a nominee.

Though I think Blackwell will go down in flames, I agree that he's scary enough that I'd prefer to see Montgomery as the candidate. She's not only corrupt, she's a dumbass with a record of not only corruption in office, but incompetence, and I think many Ohioans would find her a very unappealing figure personally once they'd seen her trying to put words together on TV a few times. She'd probably be the easiest of the three to beat, IMO.

Trying to point out that Blackwell is 'clean', which he is not.
