"a drag queen impersonating a fascist"
yeah, Coulter. But I loved the source. Full quote:

But the problem with Coulter is that she is a form of camp, is she not? The minute you take her seriously, you lose grip on her reality. She's not a social or political commentator. She's a drag queen impersonating a fascist. I don't even begin to believe she actually believes this stuff. It's post-modern performance-art. I think of Coulter in that sense as more at home on the pomo-left than the Christianist right (which is why the joke, ultimately, is on the Republicans who like her). Devoid of sincerity, detached from any value but performance, juggling rhetoric for its own sake, she is Stanley Fish's model student. Half the time, I tend to think that a Hannity or O'Reilly or Malkin actually believes their own rhetoric. With Coulter, I don't believe it for a second. And so her vileness cannot be taken seriously. She is worse than vile. She is just empty.

So, maybe she is a guy?

3. I've seen drag queens in the french quarter
ann coulter is no drag queen. Those guys put a lot of effort into their production. No doubt she is attempting to be a fascist. I do feel sorry for her since I heard she can't respond to anything a liberal says. She's said that over and over and over and over again, on TV and on radio and in print. Its really quite sad.

4. Can't help but agree.
She has this unquenching thirst for attention, and for being the center of it, like drag queens do.
She has an overdeveloped sense of herself, which is ultimately shallow, like emceeing drag queens.
She always over extends her welcome, like drag queens do.
She's an embellisher of her own accomplishments and talents, like drag queens are...lip syncing is not a valuable talent, about as rare a talent as being sucseptible to the flu...donning a get up and telling dirty jokes at a gay bar findraiser doesn't help people with AIDS much. The fundraising does.

I could go on, which is stating the obvious.

24. That's right. I'm soooooooo over drag it's not funny.

Been there, done that. Their constant need for adulation and worship is tiresome. Besides, there's no escaping them. Every gay event, they've got to invade, take charge and force everybody to hear their self-importance. It's playing dress up, I got over that at 9 years old. There was one at a bathhouse 5 years ago, amazing how the falsies stayed on without a blouse! Got rid of my Barbra albums too! Never bought any Cher. :puke:

26. I can't say that I've ever been into drag myself, or drag queens either
for that matter, and I too, break out in hives when I hear the sentimental outpourings of a Barbra or a Cher, but some of the draq queens that I have seen down through the decades have shown themselves to be better performers than the actresses and songstresses they imitate. They outdo them. I'm thinking of the unforgettable Craig Russell, from Toronto, who left us I think back in the 80s. And look at Kevin Aviance or Lady Bunny, for example, who have taken draq queendom to another (higher?) level. Who's more sophisticated, more hilarious, more intelligent and wise than Lady Bunny?

6. I agree...
I've definitely caught Coulter saying some things that a woman of her educational background (prestigeous law school, circut court clerkship) couldn't possibly believe in earnest. She knows that being inflammatory will get her on CNN/FOX/MSN and spur lots of right wing morons who don't know their ass from a street lamp to buy her books. She gets rich by being a bitch and knows it.

9. This is a vile, nasty slander of drag queens...
The ones I know, well, some of them anyway, are a little loose in their grip on stability, sure, but they are emphatically NOT hateful people and their major reason for being drag queens is because it's FUN! They have wonderful senses of humor and enjoy poking fun at the establishment, yep, but they're never vile, mean, or hurtful.

The person referred to here wouldn't know 'fun' if it walked up and chopped hir in the adam's apple.

hmmmm... there's an idea...

Shame on me. ::thwacking self::

regretfully,
Bright

19. the Rude Pundit says it best
There's so much that's fucked up about Ann Coulter and her latest "book" (if by "book," you mean, "Extended projectile vomiting retched out by a pencil-legged harridan scratching semi-words in her own puke") that it's hard to know where to start. There's the title of the "book," Godless, which quite intentionally must exist to make you think, as you walk into your local Barnes and Noble and glance over at the shrieking, howling display of volumes with Ann Coulter's picture on them, "Goddess." One might think no human being could be that needy, but, then again, Coulter's gotta compete with your Malkins and your Ingrahams and other conservative fuck dream demi-babes.

And the Rude Pundit's not gonna get into the whole "oh, Ann Coulter's wrong about this" argument, 'cause that would mean what she says merits any response other than: Are you really that fucking crazy? No, seriously, are you that...fucking...crazy? What else would you ask someone who writes, as Coulter does in the first chapter, freely available, regarding "fears" of water shortages: "Liberals are worried we’re going to run out of something that literally falls from the sky. Here’s an idea: Just wait. It will rain." Beyond the fact that most of Coulter's arguments seem to stem from understanding liberalism from 20 or 30 years ago, the sentence is breathtakingly, self-evidently stupid.
