The Bush Administration's Power Grab
Living here in a "red" state.....still a GREAT State mind you, but "red" none the less.....I have two Republican Senators, and my Congressman is a Democrat that finally changed parties in 2004 after Tom DeLay's redistricting, because he was always voting with the Repubs anyway.

Anyway, I have no one to "convince" of anything, because they always answer in double-talk, telling me how they appreciate my emails, but basically "f**k off". So I am considering emailing them the following:

Dear (fascist Senator's Name),

I want you to know that you have made me somewhat of a believer. I encourage you to keep ignoring the presidential power grab being instrumented by the Bush Administration. And I also encourage you to use the "nuclear option" if the Democrats filibuster, and they should, Samuel Alito's Supreme Court nomination, and change the Senate Rule to one that requires only a simple majority to end a filibuster.

I say these things for two reasons.

One...you won't listen to anything except what you want to hear anyway.

And two...I am looking at the LONG RUN. The ideological pendulum WILL swing, as it always does, and when what you would call "extremely liberal" bills come to the floor of the Senate, after the majority swing happens, the Democrats will have no problem in, for instance, KILLING THE PATRIOT ACT, REPEALING THE BUSH TAX CUT FOR THE RICH, and undoing this entire coup enacted by your party's "president", so that basic Constitutional guaranteed rights and sane fiscal policy can once again rule the day.....simple majority rules...remember, no fear of filibusters!

And best of all....can you imagine how happy YOU will be when this power that you have allowed to be stolen by YOUR party's "president" falls to a President Hillary Roddam Clinton? Oh, how much fun your party caucuses will. Or how about to a President Wesley Clark...a retired GENERAL...and you have a "military" man who now has all of this consolidated power, and a DEMOCRATIC MAJORITY in Congress??

The Democratic Party will have a field day undoing this unfair Bush Coup and having absolutely NO interference from you folks, because you have stripped the protections of the minority from the Senate, and made Congress IRRELEVANT on YOUR WATCH.

Sincerely,

A NativeTexan

...Then, I think I'll send something similar to my "congresman".

2. Does Cornyn actually reply to you?
I think I have received one response form his office, KBH, on the other hand, has decimated an entire forest, sending me mass quantities of mail. Lamar Smith has a spotty email response record roughly 35%.

But if Cornyn is answering you consistently, you have serious pull! Use it!

4. I've never once heard back from his office
and KBH is kind enough to send form letters.... not once has the form letter matched the issue I wrote to her about though.

3. Yeah but will they even get it?
Considering the mental capacity of these schmucks, I rather doubt it. But go for it.

8. refrrame your letter
Your letter is in English which Republicans do not understand, get 2 fifty dollar bills
xerox them and on the same sheet of paper write, see this money, I am sending it to
the Democratic party because YOU don't get it, you have made congress an echo chamber
for Bush and that is going to COST you big time, signed your BASE.
