http://feeds.bignewsnetwork.com/?sid=c885b179f546d1f6

It's South Florida's termite season, but this year a super termite species is reportedly starting to scare South Florida pest-control experts.

The Formosan termite is larger and hungrier than most species found in South Florida, and it has begun to spread, the Miami Herald reported Wednesday.

Once seen only in southeast Broward County near Fort Lauderdale, Formosan colonies are now being reported as far north as Lighthouse Point, as far west as West Hollywood, and even in the Miami-Dade County areamore

2. The heads of die-hard republicans are made of granite - that
would require some feat of genetic re-engineering.

4. Yeah, they have scorpions and flying cockroaches, too
plus crawling cockroaches the size of mice and don't get me started on the damn alligators.

Why anyone wants to live there is beyond me.

It was such a relief selling my pop's house, severing my last tie to that state.

My parents are in a carton in the kitchen, waiting for my eye to heal so I can scatter them in the most gorgeous spot in NM that I know about.

5. OH MAH GAWD!!!
The termites are a comin'!

Sorry, but your subject line made it impossible to resit doing that. On a more serious note, It seems that in 25 years these termites have adapted and possibly evolved a little to survive in the different places. I wonder, if biologists took an original Chinese Formosan Termite and compared it genetically to an Americanized Chinese Formosan Termite, how similar would they be?
