Only in the mind of a Log Cabin Republican...
Edited on Wed Jun-07-06 04:08 PM by theHandpuppet
... could today's defeat of the Marriage Amendment be made to look like a Republican-led victory for gay rights! I don't know whether to pity these fools or just call them out for a slap of reality!!!!!!

Cue theme music from The Twilight Zone and let's enter the world of the LCRs: http://online.logcabin.org/

Log Cabin Applauds Resounding Defeat of Anti-Family Constitutional Amendment in U.S. Senate

The U.S. Senate overwhelmingly rejected an anti-family constitutional amendment for the second time in two years. “The U.S. Senate gave a resounding defeat to the voices of intolerance who are trying to use the Constitution as a political tool,” said Log Cabin President Patrick Guerriero. “Momentum is on our side as a growing conservative force stands up in defense of the core American values of equality, liberty, and federalism.”

Log Cabin applauds all those Republicans who stood up against the amendment including Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Arlen Specter (R-PA), John Sununu (R-NH), Olympia Snowe (R-ME), Lincoln Chafee (R-RI), Judd Gregg (R-NH), and Susan Collins (R-ME). A sizable group of other GOP Senators expressed reservations about supporting this amendment if there had been an up or down vote....

Of course, there's always this little list too, you pathetic, demented fools!

To be perfectly clear, that's two rich white male people who speak English. Mary Cheney is a token. ;-)

5. Check out the pics from their 2006 convention

http://online.logcabin.org/photo_gallery/2006-log-cabin-convention.html

There were so few women and people of color there they had to use dupes of the same women over and over again to make it look as if there really WERE women there. Ha-ha! Did they think we're too stupid to notice that? And I don't know if the token people of color were actually members of LCR or guests (speakers). But take a look at the group shots of attendees in the ballroom. Says it all.

7. As with the mainstream GOP, I believe it is both
After all, with the exception of the gay rights issue, they're in lockstep with the GOP platform.

13. Oh, no! You're confused about the Log Cabin Republican Platform...
The Log Cabin Republicans want marriage to be between any two people who speak English.

It's VOTING they want to limit to only Rich White Males.

And for some reason, they want us to x-ray our shoes before we get married.

The LCRs must be very proud to be in such august company. What indeed does it profit you to gain a world of material riches but lose your soul?

18. Ya know I know alot of them
The republican platform is not nationally about sytematically killing or getting rid of gays so (as a Jew) I think that the Jewish Nazi jibe is pretty lame. They agree with the economic stuff, Reganesque in their closet Libertarianism, thats why they worship Reagan on their website.

21. It's a metaphor.
You know--an analogy. He/she isn't saying the two situations are identical; only that they're in some ways similar. Seems obvious, no? Why would anyone want to belong to a political party that repeatedly attempts to write their second-class citizenship into the constitution? And how stupid do you have to be to believe that Reagan was, in practice, anything like the fiscal conservative he pretended to be? He was nothing but a borrow-and-spend pseudo-populist, and no more a fiscal conservative than Bush.
