Laws should be written so this NEVER happens again. We should always have redress if the pres. and the admin goes off the deep end. They should not be able to stifle the will of the people since WE, THE PEOPLE are their employers. I don't know how it would be done, but we HAVE to get term limits in Congress. It's not fair to the people who do good (Conyer's, Boxer, Kennedy....etc.), but for most states, term limits would be a blessing. If the state really liked them, they could do what Delaware did. Become Gov. for the term allowed, then become Senator, then Representative - rotate the posts, but only if elected into it by the people of the state. After that, they should be able to figure out another position in which to help their state and their country. It would be great if we could equalize the balance so no one party ever has total control again. But I'm mixed on that since that essentially goes against our Constitution and Bill of Rights. It could be limiting the will of the people. No corporation or commercial interest should be able to "buy" votes, whether its thru actual under-the-table bribes or Lobbying - they both amount to the same thing. Lobbying should be drastically limited and "buying" votes should be strictly punished.
BUT, above all - before all of the above, we need to have strong voter reform and elimate the scam-ability of our current election process.
OK, I'll step down off my soapbox now. Just had to get that off my chest for Sat. morning.
Edited to add: Term Limits could be set on the Supreme Court also. They may be longer than the other term limits, but we should still have term limits. I'd get fired from my job at the school if I decided to stay much after retirement age - you betcha!
