If we truly CAN'T remove our corrupt officials, then it's all over.
If it's actually come to that, which it certainly looks like it has, then we may as well surrender and call it quits and be happy with the way things are, and will be.

1. But we can, we need to create a better mouse trap/voting machine.

2. It's not that we can't; it's that we won't
Collectively, the People have the power to throw everyone out of power within six years. Rather than do that, we keep electing the same irresponsible, corrupt warmongers to office, again and again and again and again and again.....

4. No, this is not a joke, this is the sad fact.
In fact, from the looks of it, we've already surrendered.

5. If we Can't...
we don't give up, we keep struggling to find a way to make it such that we Can! Where that may lead is anybody's guess, but unless we're truly ready to give up our rights, freedoms, liberties (on a scale even greater than we already have; though most don't yet realize how much that is) as well as our Democratic Constitutional Republic, we don't ever just give up.

6. We no longer live in a nation based upon popular sovereignty...
we live in an oligarchy, just like in 1984.

7. Who says we can't?
We can. We are AmeriCANs. All we have to do is make them count our votes in a way that we have confidence our votes are counted correctly. Its easy. It can be done. We just need to demand it.

9. I don't know, but I won't give up
this is what they want from us, to give up. We just have to overcome this and do what we have to do to get it back. I don't want to viewed as gutless.

8. I think we're just starting to become aware, and it's just the beginning.
Yes it's bad. But it has been this way a long time. Prescott Bush and Nazis.

Oh got to go. Daily Show. Woo hoo.

10. They won't just give up the power
they have now. I too have wondered what might happen if they again were able to manipulate the vote their way. We would be no better off than a third world country if this happens.

12. Maybe
If so, we will have to take it back by force.

This election will be stolen. But the fuss we will make, and the alternate numbers we produce after November, will stir the People into a frenzy. Start practicing being frenzied. Practice makes perfect.

11. A very wise DU'er once posted
a quote from Isaac Asimov's Foundation series -- I've tried to find it but can't, so I'll have to paraphrase. The series contains commentary from or about an "Encyclopedia Galactica" -- excerpts appear every so often in the Foundation series text. In one such excerpt, the authors explain how it was decided to compile all available knowledge in the form of the Encyclopedia once it was recognized that the galaxy was descending into a "dark age" of some kind. And they comment that the authors of the Encyclopedia undertook this task, not in the hope of averting the dark age, for it was too late for that, but merely in the hope of shortening it.

I wish I could find the statement by the DU'er who shared this, because it was so eloquent.

But the gist is, it's never over. Every little bit of good we do counts.

What ever happened to that?
