Chambers bought Cholla in Minden when the horse was 4 years old. His art career started by chance.
"I paint the corral fences every year and he used to follow me every step of the way," Chambers said. "My husband yelled out, 'Why don't you get the horse to paint the fence?'"
Cholla didn't paint the fence, but Chambers did buy him an easel and paintbrushes and he took to it from the get-go.
"He loves to do it," Chambers said. "He can be in the back pasture and he sees me bring his easel and he's just right there. He doesn't even have to be called."
