See who gives money in your neighborhood and to whom
http://www.fundrace.org/

Its quite enlightening! You can search by name or zipcode. A good tool to use for throwing fundraisers in your area.

2. I just realized that the two little towns I've been canvassing
have NO DEMOCRATIC DONORS. But they don't really have a lot of Republican donors either.

Thankfully, I live in a very democratic area. There are a few pukes, though, and one is a doctor I almost patronized. Glad I saw your post.

11. My question is this:
I live two blocks from a major university with 50,000 students. So no surprise that there are a bunch of them listed. No suprise they lean heavily toward the DNC. But... who are these kids giving $2,000?!?!?!

Oh, wait. Daddy gave it. Through their name. Neat, huh?

Edited on Tue Jun-06-06 08:59 PM by acmejack
You must be in Hyde Park or somewhere like that. There are more Democrats over here (Westlake) than I thought.

on edit, lots of that going on over here, for example Tom Meredith's kids both gave W $2000 (He's a Dellionaire).

They'll still take your money without an address. I just gave city and zip code.

enter a zipcode and it will show a map with red and blue balloons. click on a balloon to find the person who donated, address, and amount.

edit: note that this website, and the website in original post, are for the year 2004. Also it appears each site is downloading the FEC campaign contributions. From what I remember, this is public data, and anyone can view it.

12. Problems
I have real problem with any software that allows one person access to any financial aspects of another individual. That makes us no better than the NSA

18. I know all of my neighbors and can tell you who they support and who
they don't. I really don't need to GO SNOOPING on them. It just feels very republican to me. Kind of slimy.

Try talking to them instead of INVESTIGATING THEM.

IMHO.

20. Some of us are working on campaigns
and this information helps to figure out what an area is like.

Some of us give fundraisers for candidates so this information helps for knowing who to invite.

Try being less judgmental and being slower to jump to conclusions.

21. I am not being judgemental. I think you missed the point of my post.
I have a step-brother that is a four term rep. He goes door to door and talks to people. He does not rely on who gave money to whom. He ask.

I agree that this info is helpful to someone doing fundraising but that is not how your post started out. "Its quite enlightening!" to me meant "I know something no one else knows"

I give money to lots of Democrats and Democratic causes, yet I didn't come up on the locator at all. The only person with my last name that did, was some pukie in California.

29. To show up on this report, the amount is at least $200
The $200, or more, is an amount to 1 person. If you give $50 to 4 candidates, I doubt it would show up on this report.

However, an amount smaller than $200 will show up occasionally, but not often.
