Am I the only one...
...who doesn't see a huge problem with cutting the terror funds for NY and DC? I figure it this way, they have already had the resources to buy the equipment that they would need, so they don't need as much money because they don't have as many "big ticket" items to buy, just need the money to maintain the equipment, and to continue with training. I guess this just seems like common sense to me, maybe I am wrong.

1. Might depend on what they did with it
We do have other pressing problems, port security for one is pretty poor and LA does seem like a target that's been neglected a little maybe. If they are shifting funds in terms of need, fine.

I'm not sure how much there is to defend in Nebraska and some of the other places I've seen they are shifting to, if it's just pork to keep red States red then that's another matter. I don't trust them.

2. As long as it was spent wisely, I would agree with you...
however, it does not make sense to then divert those same resources to places that have minimal risks, which is what appears to be happening.

3. The problem is...
not with the funding level, but with the bone-headed "criteria" used to determine the level (or rationalize a politically pre-decided outcome), i.e., there are "no national monuments or cultural icons" in those cities. Without doubt, the stupidest single statement ever made by a Bushie....and that's a mouthful! If those truly were the criteria, it calls into question every decision they've ever made (or explains it all perfectly); if the "fix was in" and the criteria are just an excuse to justify a political payoff to Omaha or wherever, it is proof positive of the cynical abuse of power polluting our government. The fact we already just assume these conditions, and merely flip a coin to see if today's political weather is either incompetence or corruption (or widespread incompetence with scattered corruption), makes it no less appalling.

4. Well I think that Omaha would be a target
...after all it is the home to Strategic Air Command.

5. The Statue of Liberty isn't an Important National Landmark?
But the fields of wheat in Kansas are?
