Edited on Fri Jan-13-06 10:35 PM by Sarah Ibarruri
This is a poll on ABC related to one of John Stossel's 20/20 programs (John Stossel is a right wing extremist Libertarian who believes public schools should be shut down and money given in vouchers).

10. Link wouldn't let me vote and it looked
freeped! Now they're trying to corporatize school. What a mess. And it's so typically rightwinger. Blame the school if the kids do badly. Don't blame the parents who spoil the kids and enable them to be lazy about their education, make excuses for them, fight with their teachers to up grades, do their homework. EEwwuyuck blahhh! Education starts at HOME.

19. Who believes that vouchers would help??
Are there people that dense?

(That was a rhetorical question.)

Teacher's wages down there are lower than here, too.......which interested me. If you don't spend money on public education, your standing in the world is going to diminish even more quickly.

35. Thanks, it worked but it's hopelessly freeped
and the school voucher program is not going to 'fix kids' since the main problem is lack of funding for kids' programs AND crappy parenting. How will school vouchers turn bad parents to good?

12. It's a bad question. I don't think the public school system needs
more money. I think they need a better curriculum. Private schools have to option to reject any students who they feel do not fit their program. Public schools have to take ALL students. That's a problem in their comparisson.

I believe we somehow must how parents responsible for the education of their children. You can't just put your kids on the bus in the morning and expect someone else to do everything! I know when my boys were in school, I checked EVERY night on what their homework was and I CHECKED IT before I let them off the hook. How many parents do that today? If parents just dump the responsibility on the teachers, the kids know that, and if they have no desire to learn, it's real easy to just blame the teacher. That's WRONG!

16. Here in Tx, I'd like to see the school districts spend less on football
and more on the arts and foreign language, math and sciences, etc. Just better curriculum taught by teachers who love their work so much their enthusiasm is contagious.

15. Write ABC and ask them to get rid of Stossel.
Write ABC and let them know you will not be watching their program if they continue to allow Stossel to do biased right wing extremist programs.

28. "For entertainment only" disclaimer?? BS...70% "yes" = "news" propaganda
The change in the "vote count" reflects too small a rate of increase for this kind of online "poll". Is this really an attempt at getting "opinions" for reporting on the news?...or is it just a propaganda gimmick?

The disclaimer is unusual for a poll:

"Not a scientific survey." (OK, That seems like a common disclaimer.)

"For entertainment only." (But this statement maybe is a hint that the entire "poll" is far from what it postures.)
