FReepers finally achieve orgasm and Nirvana: "Bush is the Next Reagan"
This is the post they have been waiting for. It is ridiculous on so many levels that I won't even go there, but early FReeper reaction indicates many are so joyous they finally want to just go out and have sex with a person of their same gender and quit obsessing about that and evolution. Now, that's powerful.

Slater Bakhtavar - Persian Journal

The same people who heavily criticized former President Reagan for his tough stance against Communism and for his aggressive push for democracy in Eastern Europe are now attacking President Bush for his tough stance against fundamentalism and his aggressive push for democracy in the Middle East.

-They argued then that Communism would never fall - it did

They argue now that Islamic Fundamentalism will never fall - it will

-They argued then that the Soviet Union is too strong - it wasn't

They argue now that the insurgency is too strong - it isn't (more). . .

***Someone has been paying attention to history ping***

That's the problem with history, by the time we read it, it's too late. Too bad we can't get hold of a few history books from fifty years or so in the future. Maybe THAT would shut up the naysayers.

To all: PRAY for our brave President.

2. Exactly
His simpleton rhetoric could appeal to the masses and he became mentally unhinged and impotent but still dangerous in his second term.

4. FReepers, it was the TRUMAN Doctrine that eventually caused
the fall of the Soviet Union. It was a coincidence that it happened under Reagan.

Yes, it sure is. We're living in hell because they refuse to see the simple truths that the bush dynasty is evil and all their cronies are evil.

I feel sorry for the simpletons who still drool over the insanity that is "leading" this country. You have to pity anyone who is that stupid.

he is just as vapid and soulless and brainless and completely fake.

And FReepers love him for it.

They love being lied to.

They NEED to be lied to

I applied for a password (under 'maime eisenhouer') and replied: 'Yes, and Bush even has the chance to do what Reagan could never quite manage; bankrupt the country completely. Of couse, Dimson did start two phony wars (and counting) to do so. Does that still count?"

15. To quote Lloyd Benson
Edited on Sun Jun-04-06 05:49 PM by LiberalPartisan
"Mr.President, I knew Ronald Reagan. And you're no Ronald Reagan"

At least Reagan was likeable - even if he was the 2nd most vile President in 2 generations.

16. Do they not realize we have made Iran and Iraq allies?
Iraq is bound to turn against us in the future even if they do end up with some form of Theocratic Democracy. We have made fundamentalism much stronger in the Middle East. Also, Reagan never got us into war with the Soviet Union. Big difference.

27. I think FReepers are considering this reality. No wait - they're there.
Check out the daily "Pray for President Bush," "A Day in the Life of President Bush," or (chilling) Mia T's obsession with the Clintons. So sad. She will perish as do we all, and that will be her legacy. Mine won't be here on DU. And it won't be hate and obsession, either.

22. Communism in the Soviet Union did not fall because of any
effort by Reagan. It collapsed because the system just does not work. Why do you think the Chinese are slowly backing away from Communism. Islamic fundamentalism will never collapse just like Christian fundamentalism will never collapse. These two religions will be around for hundreds of years and as long as they exist there will be fundamentalism. I do not think that Bush will be around that long. Reminds me of an old joke: 100 years from now, all new people.

32. They got it all wrong. Nobody said the insurgency is too strong
We said if Dumsfeld would have taken a large enough force into Iraq (like he was told by many) the insurgency would never have been able to be allowed to grow into the huge giant is has become. Rumsfeld insisted on a smaller force able to move quickly. That smaller force was way too small to keep the insurgency from gathering steam and growing into the monster it is now. Now its almost impossible to stop, and now the troops are paying for this incompetence with their lives.

No matter how this turns out, it will not have any bearing on the direction of the Middle East. Weve done nothing but take the only secular country over there, and turn it into a country run by religion , and a country now full of religious extremists.

33. You are so right. But, truth is ASSHOLES wanted war, at whatever cost.
Yeah, it was badly fought. But for me at least, when they send me to the Camps, I will spit in their eye because I don't give a Flying Fuck about HOW this war was fought, it is about WHY this was fought, and I am old. I felt LBJ was a tragic figure. But he deserved condemnation. That's the price. I think all of us better talk, because Bush/Rove/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Frist have a little Surprise for us for both 2006 and 2008. I'm old. I go down hard for them.
