AP's "Prospective Dem Chairs All Liberal" shameful example of media bias!

AP: Prospective Democratic chairs all liberal
By ANDREW TAYLOR, Associated Press Writer
Sat Jun 3

WASHINGTON - If the chips fall right for Democrats and their party seizes control of the House, President Bush's agenda on Capitol Hill would fall into the hands of some of his most dogged opponents....

So who are the chairmen to be?

_a Polish-American lawyer with a reputation for making witnesses quiver.

_a die-hard liberal from New York's Harlem with 35 years in the House.

_a free-spending progressive from Wausau, Wis....

As for those prospective Democratic chairmen, the group is overwhelmingly liberal-leaning....

The liberal with the distinct New York accent is Rep. Charles Rangel....Rep. David Obey, the unapologetic liberal from Wisconsin, is eager to retake the gavel of the powerful Appropriations Committee....For Republicans, the prospect of the House being led by a San Franciscan and so many left-leaning chairmen has supporters in business and Washington's K Street lobbying shops aghast....

Black lawmakers would run major committees....

This inflammatory article from the Associated Press is unacceptable. One, no one, to my knowledge, has written in the press that current GOP Congressional chairmen are not conservatives, but right-wing extremists. The political spectrum in our country has swung so far to the right that right-wing extremism is considered the norm, and "liberal," which described FDR, JFK, and many other giants of American history, is considered a dirty word. The current chairmen are much farther to the right than our prospective chairs are to the left. Two, this article is not only biased against liberals (and Democrats), it is provincial, and racist: "Polish-American lawyer," "liberal with the distinct New York accent," "die-hard liberal from New York's Harlem," "unapologetic liberal from Wisconsin," "San Franciscan" -- and, "Black lawmakers would run major committees."

What was the AP thinking? There is no doubt that Karl Rove will power the upcoming Congressional campaigns with wedge issues that bring out his wingnut base, and will use inflammatory rhetoric such as that contained in this article to scare voters into retaining a robotic, rubber-stamp Republican Congress, helping to lead our country farther down a path to disaster. The question is, why is the Associated Press doing Rove's dirty work for him?

1. "A free-spending progressive"
Yeah, what a change from the fiscally responsible Bush, who has doubled our national debt. These media whores just won't stop with the old cliches will they?

and was so phucking disgusted I didn't bother opening it. You really nailed it with "provincial and racist"! (Good God - we can't have blacks running major committees!) I can only imagine how Andrew Taylor would have referred to women - no doubt some reference to their "smart pantsuits" or some such nonsense. Corporate Media is alive and well, but what to do?

6. AP's shredded credibility is fast becoming nothing more than
mere tatters as they attempt to salvage the evil empire with their transparently partisan drooling. The most frustrating, to me, part of this outrageous pandering is that they actually believe that their own version of "fair and balanced" reporting represents a valued commodity.
They have totally sunken into the philosophy that ignores unbiased truth telling as some sort of archaic, undesirable relic from an era of shallow human history.
The worst part of this is that those of us who can see that bigger picture are given the back of the hand and have no seat at the table. We just do not count and these idiots will forever refuse to listen.
Screw them!

15. They must not have
gotten the memo that, "Liberal is a beautiful word and state of mind" and only mentally challenged cons think it's a dirty word.

People who get scared :scared: of Liberals are driving the USA into the abyss of hell.

10. Is the Associated Press assodiated with the Carlisle Group? GHW Bushes Co.
I just went and did a little research; I had to know who owned Associated Press. I’m sure you all have this link. http://www.projectcensored.org/newsflash/mediamaps.htm It seems as though the Associated Press is associated with many big corporations including the Carlisle Companies, Inc… Could that be the same as “Carlisle group” ware daddy Bush sits on the board of directors and is helping drain the national treasure?

I think the Carlyle Group is spelled with a "y," so this company must be a different one. Thanks for your research: keep digging!

16. This is disgusting! I'm truly aghast that this is AP print! Is this a
rated story? I haven't yet clicked on the link, but if it's rated, I don't know whether it should be rated up, to expose it more as inflammatory, prejudicial, and extremely biased, or to vote it down, to voice disapproval?

K & R!

someone is writing stories under their imprint without their knowledge.

18. Is this the case? AP is not aware of this story? BTW, at the time of
my initial post, about 430 people had rated it an average of 2.5. I voted zero.
