They are reporting on CNN that Al-Zawahiri has been killed. they bombed a small village in Pakistan, killing 17 people total. It is believed that Al-Zawahiri was among those 17. CNN is reporting that it might have been a CIA missle used.

Someone had to post it in here. No link up on CNN.com yet.

Your moment of :sarcasm:
Then again, it might have just been a flashlight.

3. Nothing like killing number 2 to boost up the polls...
My guess is, when we finally kill number 1, there will be no one left on earth.

11. Thats the way it has appeared all along.
It would really be a big deal to have him gone. My impression has always been that it would be better to get rid of him than Bin Laden if we ever had a choice.

Good. It was worth every penny, every American life, every dead Iraqi.

That damn cow was always whispering in Osama's ear, you know. They had a "special" relationship.

16. Pentagon Propaganda Translator: "may have" means...
"definitely did not." Example: "Air strike may have killed Al-Qaeda #2 man" means "Air strike definitely did not kill Al-Qaeda #2 man."

19. So??? This Isn't World War II Or Capture The Flag
Somehow this regime has painted the confusing picture of an "insurgency" that is either very tightly organized or one that's a bunch of rag-tag rag-heads in their "death throes". The truth we continue to learn each day is the enemy is within our own camp...using the boogie men of whatever made-up group serves their purposes.

Al Queda is as much a manufactured image by this regime than any reality. It's used as a blanket term to launch wars, tap phones, destroy liberties, give billions to defense contractors and create a faux atmosphere of fear that has gone a great way of accomplishing the disruption of this country bin Laden could have only dreamed of.

While if this was Al Zawrahiri (not Al Zarquawi...keep your #2s in the right order here...) it would be a "moral" victory and, I, personally wouldn't mind seeing this man's name written in the past tense...it sure isn't the end or anywhere near the end of the shitstorm this regime has stirred up in the entire region. Thanks to this regime, the Al Queda enterprise has now been franchised and merged with dozens of nationalist movements, millions of angry young men who see blowing themselves up as a better life than living under the barrel of one gun or another.

All said, we're no closer to bringing any of our troop home...having a real sense that something's been done to make the "our world" safer or broken the will or spirit of people who will continue to shoot at Americans as long as they occupy their lands. If anything, killing Al Zawarhiri could just have created a new martyr.
