Bloomberg: if you don't like the HSD budget for NYC, QUIT the GOP
That's right. Send a message. You were never a real Republican, anyway. Now that the B*sh Admin's HSD has placed NYC, a terrorist's favortie target, in 27th place on US cities per capita spending for security, why DON'T you quit those bastards once and for all. They obviously don't give a rat's ass about NYC, in spite of their filthy 9-11 exploitation that elected a Chimpanzee (alright, maybe he wasn't really elected) and efforts to justify the invasion and murderous Iraq occupation. Tell the country what you think of THIS Republican party, and their values and competence. F*CK THEM already. Come BACK to the Democratic Party. We are the party that can better protect and defend this country. I'm damned sure New Orleans would be in far better shape now if Democrats had been running the country.

Bloomberg, you've got plenty of dough; you don't need those bastards. What the hell have they done for you and your city lately? QUIT the GOP.

1. The Dem field for 08 is a bit crowded and Bloomberg may be
positioning himself to take Giuliani out of the GOP race.

Or at least make him spend his campaign resources early and thus wound him for any close nomination drive later.

Bloomberg has the bucks, no question. He might be thinking about running himself for president. Some have suggested that President of the United States would be a less stressful job than Mayor of New York.

2. I don't think Bloomberg has presidential aspirations

do you?

Guiliani is making money hand over fist in the private sector-- i have my doubts whether he would really, at the end of the day, attempt a run. The thought of being president appeals to his vanity and enormous post-9/11 ego, I'm sure... Sir Rudy, "America's Mayor" gets his ass kissed everywhere he goes, here and abroad. But, the $$$$....Guiliani makes millions on speaking engagements alone; he netted 8 million in speaking fees his first year out of office.

Blooomberg's politics are way too progressive (he supports gay marriage, for example) to survive a national campaign as a Republican. My suggestion for him to quit the GOP is symbolic.

3. All good points, and very persuasive. In my bones I think Giuliani
wants power, and is satisfied with the millions so long as no other options are available.

But a lot of people have probably been kissing up to him since 9/11, and my guess is he's going for the White House.

Whether he gets there or not, I don't know.

Bloomberg is probably way too liberal for Republican primaries. He'd scare the hell out of the run-of-the-mill Allen or Frist voter, and he'd likely reduce the average Brownback voter to a slobbering, incoherent mess.

Well, ok -- Brownback voters are pretty much like that already. Still.

But it would be refreshing to hear Bloomberg, who is no slouch in debating, put the brain power to work in GOP primary debates. Against Frist, for instance, I think Bloomberg would APPALL GOP base voters, but he might well be effective enough to knock George Allen out of contention.

I see him as an interesting possible addition to the mix. Not all that lovable, granted. But interesting and well-funded.

I think your take on Giuliani should be the working model for any potential campaign or public posture he's in.
