Misplaced Priorities? How does Rove going down in flames help us?
Don't get me wrong, traitors should be imprisoned (at least). I just don't think Rove is important enough for us to spend so much energy discussing him and his possible indictment.

Bush & Co. will get theirs for sure, as long as we keep our eyes on the ultimate prize: Gaining the White House in 2008. We don't have a clear frontrunner. Clinton has been piled on by the right and the left. People are mentioning Kerry but Kerry is not generally admired outside the cyber walls of DU. And Gore doesn't want to run, so why waste time trying to recruit him?

It's been a long, rough 6 years, but we must stay focused.

1. If Rove goes down it stands as a singular, high-profile example of
the failure and disgrace of underhanded and subversive powermongering enacted against democratically-elected public officials.

He's an asshole and if he goes down, that's good for everybody.

2. How Can You Preach To Me About Keeping My Eye On The Prize When You Don't
even know what the prize is???

RIGHT NOW the prize is gaining Congress in 06, not the White House in 08. That comes next. But right now, keeping our eye on the prize first and foremost means taking back control of congress THIS YEAR, which I think is far more important than 08.

3. Rove is hurting America
Remember he said that Ohio was won by the largely invisible grass roots movement. I think
that he knows a great deal about that "largely invisible grass roots movement", esp. the
largely invisible part.

6. Rove is already so distracted that his work is crap. Anything that
shakes his confidece, causes him to make more mistakes for the GOP, like the Split the Base fiasco of Immigration and the way he fumbled Katrina (because he was shitting his pants wondering if he was gonna get indicted).

A weakened, worried Rove clinging to Bush who is clinging to Rove is the purrrrfect Rove.

7. We want him going down in flames for the same reason...
you would want to capture the enemies war strategist (or maybe the code generator). Did you realize that we had cracked the Japanese codes in WWII and were able to stay several steps ahead of them. It's like getting the play book. Keeping him tied up handicaps the NeoCons.

11. Because he's an evil criminal and deserves
to go down in flames? Because it would feel soooo good to see him frog-marched off? Because we can focus on bringing the lawbreakers to justice AND on electing a progressive leader in 2008?

13. It would be.......
such a fantastic boost to the morale of every Democrat in the U.S. To see the smile wiped off that puke´s face would put an ear to ear grin on a lot of decent folk´s faces.
