The trooper told me I was causing a 'curiousity slowdown' pic heavy
Over the canal, there are two big gateways to Cape Cod.
Many of you know I spend my holidays on the Bourne Rotary-
(just a spit away from the Bourne Bridge)
As I did for a few hours this morning. And some of you
may remember I got kicked off last Mar.19th by the
state police.

When I told my fabulous state rep. Matt Patrick, he did
some great follow up for me- sent me an e-mail detailing
his detective work and told me the rotary was mine for
the using.

My good friends from Cape Codders for Peace and Justice
were to meet me there at 11am- but as always happens
on Cape during the 'summer months', they got stuck in
traffic and were a bit late. So me, feeling emboldend-
slightly empowered- since my arrest- hit the rotary
by myself... And sure enough

Here comes Trooper Cooper, pulling up to curb, lights flashing...
He steps out of the car and I gave him a "Hey, how ya'doing?"
He asked me if I knew I was supposed to have a permit.
So nonchalantely I told him "I don't need one. I have first
ammendment rights." proceeding to tell him that I looked
into this since being kicked off by state troopers only
recently. I then told him I had a letter from my state rep
that told me I had every right to be there. He asked to see
it... so I showed it to him.

He tells me that I'm causeing a 'curiousity slowdown' I told
him that no, it wasn't me-( the line of cars was now backed
up as far as you could see) I told him that he was with his
flashing blues. Then I smiled at him and asked him if he
might consider staying as it really gave folks a chance
to see my message. I asked him for his name and then badge
number, because as he could read in my letter, my rep had
asked me to make sure to get that info. He then got
back into his squad car to leave telling me that if this
didn't pan out he'd be back. I said, "I'll be here"

Not too much later my support showed up, we stood vigil
there for a while, then moved onto Rt 6, the other gate
to and from the Cape. The following photos are from
the exit 2 rest stop where the traffic crawled at a max
5mph, And I'm so stoked to tell you- The response was
overwhelmingly positive!
PEACE

22. Absolutely LOVE that man as my rep!
Pulled together a forum on Depleted Uranium with friends
of Unhappycamper to be held at the community college this
Thursday. Matt introduced legislation on this material
that is itself a war crime- to get our troops tested
when they return from Iraq.

I'd like to see them tested before they deploy too-
Probably won't happen b/o $$$$, and heaven forbid
we should tap into a little bit of Halliburton's
profits.

24. The most job appropriate name I have ever seen
is the name of one of our local (central FL) forest rangers. His name, Timber Weller (real name, not a nickname). He is quite a guy, having once survived burns over 70% of his body fighting a fire in 1993. He is now a forest service spokesman.

70. Yeah
But traffic from the Cape (and going to the Cape) is usually heavy all summer long! I suppose Trooper Cooper hasn't had to deal with a full summer working on the only ways to get back and forth! What a PITA he sounds like.

Continued good luck! And if I can ever make the 2+ hour trip down (the farthest I've gone on my own has been to Carver, which really isn't the Cape, but I've never planned for a longer trip by myself!) to see a friend in Falmouth, I'll let you know.

You betcha. These gestapo agents ALWAYS try to tell you that you need a permit. Bullshit. They tried the same crap with my family, when we were protesting the hospital trying to unplug my sister. We contacted the city of Houston and found out that as long as we were on public property, we could hold up any damned signs we wanted to.

Remember that, guys. When they start talking permits, they are full of shit. They are LYING.

Awww, PVD, those pics really brightened my day. But most of all, I loved how you responded to Trooper Cooper and how you had your duckies in a row, what with the letter and all. That was just so cool.

Thanks to you and all in your group. :)

69. My first arrest occurred last April in my congressman's office.
Since then- I no longer have fear of cops. keep a camera- pen/paper-

I was ready for anything- had bail money with me. Wore a skirt so that
if I had to pee in the stainless steal commode, I could just pull
it over me so lady like.

Sometimes however, I hit the streets alone. Perhaps not alway wise.
But today it was necessary, and well this time all worked out well.

This was a good move and had to be done to show them that we know
our rights and they cannot throw us off the rotary ever again.

We will be back for a much larger gathering on Labour Day.

No photos of me, cuz I was the only one with a camera-
But dang you should see my $11 code pink skirt and tanktop outfit
with my cowboy hat and codepink scarf around the brim that removes
all essence of cowboy!

One guy yelled out "whacko liberal hot mama!"
He got points for creativity.

99. Not today- but they have in the past
The day Cindy Sheehan went from Dallas VFP convention to
Crawford I was so inspired by her courage that I moved
my street protest to infront of the Air Force Base/ANG base.

It was fricken hot. Some wonderful gentleman stopped his
car and threw me an unopened bottle of frozen water. A dude
on a Harley stopped, stared at me for a few seconds, then
saluted me. That day was pretty cool.

Last laborday- a real coold dude stopped, got out of his truck,
asked where the signs were and stayed with us for the rest of
the day. Darn if I didn't bump into him last Sept in DC, and
darn if I didn't get arrested with him in my congressman's
office last April. (Had no idea he would be there)

Many othere too!

100. Great job!
Thanks for telling us about it. I would think that anywhere in the country it should be legal for people to do this on public thoroughfares, just as it's legal for somebody to dress up in a monkey suit to advertise a car wash. (Not meaning to equate those two in importance!!) Although I'm sure in some areas there are local ordinances that could be interpreted to the detriment of protesters. You were very smart to check it out AND to get that letter from your state rep! Wow, it must be great to have that kind of elected representative you can count on!

PVD,.. you got style and courage I wished I had. I did at one time back in 1997 when I challenged former Tyrant Mayor Rudy Giuliani in a classic 1st amendment case (I won)(290k) but since then I become snake bitten and fear for my safety and liberty.
So,once again PVD "top honors for you and your bunch of freedom lovers"

112. Thank you again PVD for that "note of recognition" and yes..
Tyrant Mayor Rudy Giuliani changed the issue from cops rigging a traffic light to look what jimmy did 20-30 years earlier in his life. Classic smear job but still despite my baggage I did "kill a NYC cash cow" and rightfully so for that cash cow was "illegal." An ironic twist, Rudy claimed,"those cops were just doing their jobs" meanwhile King Rudy pulled those cops out of there the same day I brought this to his attention on his WABC Friday talk radio show.
For 7 weeks no one would listen to my complaint but 2 hours after speaking with HIM I had "elite detectives" in my home viewing that videotape.
The rest is history.

My hats off to you and your freedom loving bunch.

Jimmy from the Bronx

I love ALL your signs, but must admit I'm particularly impartial to "IMPEACH THE BASTARDS".

Sorry 'bout that, but it's b/c I'm a former supporter of the (cringe!) repuke party. (My slogan now is "Never Again". Never again, never ever ever, will they get a vote or a good word from me.) And, see, because of my primitive neanderthal past, I still prefer the more bloodthirsty signs--they best express how I feel about the travesty of Bush/Cheney/the rest of them.

117. They hurt, I mean HURT a lot of people with their lies.
But you're here now, that's what matters.

Recently I was at a civil liberties forum that former Congressman
Bob Barr was speaking at. Before it started we passed each other
in the hall doing the last minute restroom break. Once I recognized
him I gave him a hug and welcomed him back from the dark side.
He was a bit stunned by my hearty greeting, but then told me
that he felt more at home in Massachusetts than he did in
his own home state of Georgia.

Anyway- this is for you:hug:
