Real proof of Bush's Popularity (read carefully)

---Almost 70 percent of 1,000 U.S. adults surveyed in a telephone poll think President Bush is doing an "excellent or pretty good job" of dressing himself. The other 30 percent approve of the suits he wears, but would prefer not to see him in tight jeans.

---More than 50 percent of respondents say that if the 2004 presidential election were held again, they would not change their vote. Yes, they'd still vote for the same guy and we all know who that guy is.

---When given several choices and asked to rank them in "likeability," 90 percent of respondents put President Bush first, finding him much more likeable than enemas, rattlesnakes, and telemarketers, in that order.

Lots more in the article.

And I'll add this: A sizable majority of respondents agreed that Bush is good or excellent at acting brave when faced by a righteously angry citizenry sick and tired of his criminality.

On that note, this kook seriously thinks Bush is very brave. Har har.

ON EDIT: The first article at the top is a Colbertesque article that bashes Bush. The second article at the bottom is a Bushbot praising Bush for his bravery. Please don't confuse them.

1. I hear they threw this guy out of Bizarro World . . .
Because his ideas were too extreme. I wouldn't ask which planet he's from, but which galaxy.

16. Yeah, Michael Novak of NRO. I should have been more specific . . .
Than "this guy."

2. I read 50% Would change their vote (**'s 25%), but the article...
itself is just sick. I mean: "In Iraq, civil society, nearly comatose under Saddam Hussein, is today alive and full of vitality." What sort of reality does these war criminal enablers live in? In 2006??

5. The first article link is the main article that bashes Bush...
the second article is the sick article from a Bushbot.

Perhaps I shouldn't have combined them in the same post.

8. They are wildly different.
They make a strange combination. When I got to the second article, I thought it, too, must be satire.

It isn't. See American Enterprise Institute.

6. I was thinking that must be satire like the first article,
but it isn't. However, read this about Michael Novak:

— Michael Novak is the winner of the 1994 Templeton Prize for progress in religion and the George Frederick Jewett Scholar in Religion, Philosophy, and Public Policy at the American Enterprise Institute.

I liked the first article much better:

...Job seekers remain optimistic about their prospects. Almost 80 percent of them "strongly agree" with the statement "I am confident about getting a job within two or three weeks of moving to India."...

...Americans are impressed with the president's growing expertise in foreign affairs. About 60 percent of respondents "strongly agree" with the statement "When the president makes a speech about 'Iraq,' only on very few occasions does he actually mean 'Iran.'"

9. Yes, the first article is satire, the second one is from a stupid Bushbot.
Can I not combine genres in one DU post? :)

Then again, Michael Novak confused the hell out of me. Pretty unbelievable.

13. Extremely so.
I am still astonished by such things.

On the other hand, he can't possibly believe what he wrote. There are skilled professional propagandists in the world. They get paid to do a job, and they do it. I guess that explains it.

7. re: they would not change their vote
"More than 50 percent of respondents say that if the 2004 presidential election were held again, they would not change their vote. Yes, they'd still vote for the same guy and we all know who that guy is."

I know the article was humor, but actually that statement could be believable and REALLY bad for Bush, if there were such an opinion poll with that result.

Since the vote was split pretty evenly between Bush and Kerry with a few percent voting third party, all of the Kerry & 3rd party voters plus a few percent of Bush die-hards would claim that they wouldn't change their vote. Assuming the 40%+ who would change their vote are mostly Bush voters, a do-over could result in Bush polling in the low single digits...

14. I just have one question for the author of the second article.
What planet do you come from and what drugs are you using? This man is delusional and needs some serious help.

15. The second article has to be parody too. Look at this part:
"On the number-one issue facing the nation—the war declared upon us by fascists who pretend to be religious"

Fascists who pretend to be religious? Wow, he described the Bushies perfectly. How ironic, how sarcastic, how Colbertesque!
