This Week Beats Meet The Press - Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha, Ha,
Russert is an asshole and his all republians, all the time format is getting tired.
I don't trust any of em....Stephanopolis's show has a better flow, but sometimes I want slap him. Russert on the other hand is horrible and is in bed with the White House.

This Week Beats Meet The Press In Demo For First Time Since 1999
Staffers on ABC's This Week with George Stephanopoulos are thrilled about last Sunday's ratings. This Week outperformed NBC's Meet the Press and CBS's Face the Nation in the 25-54 demographic on Sunday, May 21.

"This was 'This Week's' first win over 'Meet' -- with full coverage -- since August 1999 and the program's biggest A 25-54 lead over 'Face' since May 2, 2004," a press release said. ABC had 1,080,000 demo viewers, compared to NBC's 1,020,000, CBS's 950,000, and Fox's 570,000. Among total viewers, NBC had 3,380,000, ABC had 2,640,000, CBS had 2,610,000, and Fox had 1,410,000...

> Update: 5:20pm: "Meet also lost to CBS in the 18-49 demo a couple of weeks ago. Russert is not untouchable," an e-mailer adds...

CHOCOLATES AND NYLONS, SIR?

By David Podvin

In 1992, shortly after being named moderator of Meet The Press, Tim Russert was having lunch with a broadcast executive. The mealtime conversation was about the pros and cons of working for General Electric’s NBC subsidiary. Russert expounded on how being employed by GE had brought him to the realization that things functioned better when Republicans were in charge.

“You know, Tim, you used to be such a rabid Democrat when you worked for Pat Moynihan,” said the executive. “But now that you’ve gotten a glimpse of who’s handing out the money in this business, you’ve become quite the Jaycee. Were you wrong about everything you used to believe so strongly?”

“I still believe,” Russert said, leaning across the table. “I believe in everything I ever did. But I also know that I never would have become moderator on Meet The Press if my employers were uncomfortable with me. And, given the amount of money at stake, millions of dollars, I don’t blame them. This is business.”

The executive agreed. “But are you concerned about losing yourself? You know, selling out?”

Russert pounded the table. “Integrity is for paupers!” ....

6. That sounds like a joke to me
It's the sort of thing people say for a laugh.

7. Oh, I'm sure Timmy was laughing when he said it.
But what about the sentence before? "I would never have become moderator of Meet the Press if my employers were uncomfortable with me." He clearly admits that GE/NBC wants a Republican slant. And he's willing to give it to them, in spite of what he SAYS he believes. Why would he do that? The answer can only be for money and prestige.

So, of course he would joke about the question of "selling out". He has sold out, and he openly admits it. But in his world, it doesn't matter. Only money and image matter.

5. "This Week" has a better format
I like the round table where George Will regularly gets his ass handed to him by Fareed Zakaria, and although it breaks my heart every Sunday, I appreciate the fact that they do the In Memoriam piece with all the young dead troops from that week named.

8. "In memoriam" is a heartbreaking, moving addition to our culture.
I watch it every Sunday...to see whose lives have been taken, which communities have lost vital members.

Yes, Step can be an ass...but he does a pretty good program. Not to mention "The Sunday Funnies."

10. Except the last part. Tony Orlando? Newsmaker?

I don't think so.

But then, Russert does a 10 minute homage to MTP at the end of his program. Both are total time wasters.

9. But GE won't care...
...when your job is to "catapult the propaganda" ratings don't matter one wit. That is why shills like Scarborough, Carlson, Tweety and the rest are still on the air and Donahue was taken off.

It's called full spectrum dominance of the airwaves. If three people are watching that's three more converts for "la causa."

And in the end, that's all they care about...

14. No...
well maybe that too! But his contract most likely includes bonuses for each Neilson rating period. Thousands of dollars, maybe more. He's a big shot!
