not even being able to use the armor they're sent from home.

Mission

OPERATION HELMET provides helmet upgrade kits free of charge to troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as to those ordered to deploy in the near future.

These helmet upgrades do three primary things:

1. Comfort - If it is more comfortable, it will stay on troop's head longer and more often.
2. Stability - Keeps the helmet firmly on the head and out of the eyes.
3. Protection - Decreases G-force transmission to the head and brain.

7. Thanks for posting the additional info.
Operation Helmet is offering these for free?
What excuse could the military possibly have for not using them?
Same excuse as for not allowing troops to use decent armor their families send them?

11. "What excuse could the military... "
According to Cher,
1. The Pentagon didn't give these to all the troops itself because they said they (the Pentagon)ran out of money (!!)
2. The Pentagon is against this Operation Helmet program because somehow it's devisive, it drives a wedge between the brass and the troops.

between the soldiers and what would otherwise kill them.

on the same topic.

She's actually fairly intelligent, despite her flamboyant image. I believe she's dyslexic.

18. Cher's Called In Before
The lady has been a consistant critic of this invasion and the booosh regime...and glad she did what so many other with her fame can't do...grow a pair and stand up for something.

Cher's been an unabashed progressive liberal going back to the Vietnam days (and a reason she cites for why she dumped Sonny the ski bunny)...marching in protest then. Cheers to her for still having the fire and adding her voice to ours. I wouldn't be surprised if she's among us here...or at least pops in to see what's going on.

A class act from a classy lady...a true diva.

24. "a true diva"
I don't think you know what that word means.

Time Magazine observed in its October 21, 2002 issue: "By definition, a diva is a rampaging female ego redeemed only in part by a lovely voice."

Carry on...

Not always the people in charge of the military.

The video on the battleship showed a lot. And, yes, that is a double entendre.
