Disturbing Police Footage of Gestapo Tactics in Portland, 2002
Pretty shocking footage from a protest in Portland.

VIDEO:

This film is not as well-edited as it could have been, so it takes a little while to get to the important parts, but it is worth watching.

This film caught my attention because it so reminded me of what happened at the FTAA protests in Miami. The Miami Police Department, under scumbag chief Timoney, and with support from police and sherriff's departments from all over Florida, behaved in an equally oppressive way at the FTAA protests that were weld there in 2003. I was not a participant in the protests, but I worked in downtown Miami at the time, a few blocks from the venue, and the PHALANXES of THOUSANDS of police in RIOT GEAR all over the city were terrifying. It blew my mind that there were all these thousands of cops on hand in Miami to beat down AMERICAN CONCERNED CITIZENS, most of whom were middle-aged factory workers and the like, and to protect a few FOREIGN BILLIONAIRES from ever having to hear the will of OUR PEOPLE.

I did not participate in those protests, but I wish in retrospect that I had.

Some pics from the banana republic police state in downtown Miami.

PS - These FTAA bastards are the same people Clinton kissed up to when he signed the POS NAFTA.
Why do people who call themselves "democrats" support the race to the bottom, as well as an approval process that completely excludes the PEOPLE, and even the Congress, and overrides US laws?
And why are we constantly being told not to speak out against these "democrats", because they are less evil than the repukes, and the only "viable" choice?

How the hell is selling off our kids' futures "viable"?

1. NAFTA and CAFTA are just tools to provide global corporations
a constant source of slave labor. And Clinton knew that.

2. What's good for the corporation is good for America
It's total bullshit.

This is precisely why I believe in very tight oversight regulations on police forces nationwide. I think things such as cop watch programs and civilian oversight boards are good ideas. We do not need an unofficial government police force carrying out the will of the central government at the expense of human freedoms.

3. Yes, but their focus now seems to be on excesses in minority communities
They seem to pretty much be turning a blind eye to these kind of abuses.
