I just met Katharine Harris...oh my

I just came back from a local festival called Red Belly Day in Gilchrist County. When I first walked in I noticed a table with a huge sign that read "We support our president and our troops" I made a comment to my friend that if you really supported the troops you wouldn't support the president and moved on, thinking nothing of it. 2 hours later the table was covered with "Harris for Senate" stickers, signs, and phamplets. I went up to the table when I noticed a petition for the Federal Marriage Amendment, the man urged me to sign it and told me that Katharine would be there in about 20 minutes. Sure enough, Mrs. Harris then arrives on a huge bus 20 minutes later. I actually went up to see what she actually looked that bad in person, she does. She's also extremely tiny and her fake breasts totally throw her out of proportion... I found it to be funny. After meeting people for 15 min. She then rode around with a professional photographer for over an hour to get her photo taken, basically ignoring the hundreds of citizens around her, it was extremely offensive. But what took the cake is that when I went up to see how she looked she decided to come up to me and to introduce herself, when she leaned in to talk to me she spilt water on me! She then proceeded to try and wipe off my arm... surreal yet true story. Just wanted to fill my fellow DU'ers... I still can't believe it all.

About the Federal Marriage Amendment, her people we extremely quick to get a pen in my hand, when I told them I would atleast like to read it before I thought about signing it the man started to hurry me. I then asked him if he knew what it was about, he responded with "Oh, I'm not sure, they just put it in the table"...classic

I signed one of those petitions. Well, sort of. Someone came up to me, and in an almost intimidating manner, tried to get me to sign it. He was with a group of "God fearing" people with bibles in hand and they were pressuring everyone they came in contact with. It was like when you go to buy a car and the salesman excuses himself only to come back with two other people surrounding you, trying to get you to sign the paperwork before you can even read the whole thing.

I did feel kind of intimidated and wasn't in the mood to have any kind of confrontation so I signed it, using the pseudo-name of Ben Dover because that's what I think all of those idiots should do.

I'm not being snarky . . . I think its great when Kate and the Krew see lots of people around her, especially when I know many of them don't and won't support her quixotic run for the Senate. It reinforces the delusion Kate has that she's popular and so she continues to spend her dead daddy's legacy in a cause that's sure to result in her demise and the discredit of BushCo. Couldn't ask for a better result.

So yeah, let's all feed Kate's fevered imagination and encourage her to keep running . . . even if her numbers fall into the high 'teens. We've none of us much money for entertainment these days, and Kate's demise may prove to be one of the best shows we get this fall.

I was extremely shocked about seeing her, it completely caught me off guard. And I did give her a piece of her mind... very subtly. I told her that I as a registered democrat I truly appericiated her running. She was only surrounded by staffers so me making a scene wouldn't have accomplished anything. They got the message though, I wasn't offered any stickers or anything upon leaving their area. I know that doesn't sound like much but with me being a prim and proper 18yr old and being new to this game I was actually kind of proud of myself. Plus, while walking away my friend Lauren said loudly that I should make sure it was water and wasn't fake boob leakage.... I know she heard that!
