1. Muslim girlfriend would definitely be disgusted by the last pic
She is as pro-gay as I am.

3. I wonder how many people in other countries would embrace
these "values"? To me, I think they show a very ugly side of us.

7. Except for the overweight one, most of these are typical Christian
values - as I define it as the main focus of mostly Christian countries.

11. There are plenty of obese Christians
Vanity, gluttony, avarice, envy - despite being sins, they seem to be remarkably common among "christians"

4. OMG!

I think more than Muslims might have second thoughts about embracing those cultural icons.

5. #7 is great! But your point is made. I heard years ago the Muslims
are upset because they follow the Muslim teachings but the decadent USA seems to get all the money, power, and material goods. The Muslim countries have had high unemployment for decades because they're so rich, no one works. Then there is the woman issue. Wow - women in dresses where you can actually see parts of their body!

6. I would rather live in a country...
where people have the freedom to do everything that is in those pics, than one run by the will of local Imams.

I, for one will never put my face to the ground, stick my ass in the air and ask Allah for anything. Just like I don't cross myself and pray for anything to Christ.

15. but you live at the will of the local Imams
Your corporate Imam is in a boardroom near you, pushing through
corporate friendly legislation on your dime, pushing big cars,
monster trucks, fast unhealthy food, binge drinking and drunkneness
as a social value, football as a legitimate expression of masculinity,
and hatred of gays. Gosh, good think you don't have any ignorant
imams guiding society... you must feel very safe.

8. There are certainly many things in "our" culture that I am not proud of
... and don't participate in.

After a decade married to a Muslim, my opinion (which is admittedly nothing more than anecdotal) is that countries and cultures in which Islam is the primary religion, have just as many faults (areas NOT to be proud of) and failings as we do; some of the failings are just very different.

I think my kids, who are in a unique position to experience people living in both cultures (a wide range of people) have a very keen understanding of this.
