Watching Countdown, they were showing file footage of rum-dum shaking the hands with the rank & file in Iraq---with EARPLUGS in his ears.


Yes, that picture says a thousand words. Anyone care to grab that image when Countdown re-airs later tonight? IMO, it would make an effective picture to circulate.

1. Could they be hearing aids?
Rumsfeld isn't exactly a spring chicken and many hearing aids look like earplugs.

6. They looked just like the standard cheap yellow ones that I have used
As a matter of fact, the last time that I used that cheap style was when I was on an op with the reserves 2 years ago.

OTOH, I have worked with geriatric patients, and I have never seen a hearing aid that looks anything like that.

5. That was just bizarre.
I am sure there was a good reason for him to stick them in his ears (such as walking across tarmac), but he was under a roof with those guys.

Maybe the old bastard was making some kind of gesture of solidarity with the troops, but he looked as foolish as georgie did while prancing round in his flightsuit with his crotch strap fastened.
