Even though I know Bush will be gone in a couple of years, I can't help but think that I will never "heal" from the 8 year "emotional wound" suffered from his stolen presidency. It changed my possibly naive and overly patriotic view of my country and it's simply an innocence I know is gone for good. Part of that is a good thing. A good chunk of it is nothing but depressing.

She so succinctly captures the hatred, ignorance, and anti-democratic paradox of the "patriotic" far RW. I can't help but cry to realize how many have died in our wars to defend our civil rights, while we breed an entire segment of society that would kill those whose views do not reflect their own. It makes me absolutely heartsick. But that is also what makes this piece so powerful. Natalie Maine's defiance, anger, and courage are truly palpable here.


I have never liked country music, but I will purchase this today...
