Bush ‘Doubts’ He’ll See Gore Movie
President Bush was asked this morning whether he will watch Al Gore’s new movie on global warming, An Inconvenient Truth. “Doubt it,” the president answered. He went on to argue that we need to “set aside whether or not greenhouse gases have been caused by mankind or because of natural effects.”

Two important points need to be made:

1. Bush casts his answer in terms of a debate that exists on whether greenhouse gases are caused by human activity. In fact, as ThinkProgress has repeatedly documented, there is no scientific debate on this issue. Not a single peer-reviewed study conducted between 1993 and 2003 challenged the consensus that the earth’s temperature is rising due to human activity.

2. Bush cannot solve the problem of global warming if he does not understand its root cause. By “setting aside” the issue of why the globe is warming, Bush wants to also sidestep the need for his administration to begin efforts to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, as he once pledged to do.

Or perhaps he already made it, casting Jerry Lewis in the lead and calling it "Hardly Working."

10. That type of movie would not interest him.
A movie that makes someone think, would definetly be over his head. Plus, he would see that Gore was intellectually way ahead of him. Then again, as dumb as he is, he might not even notice.

13. He doesn't give a shit!
He knows that he and his friends are financially set for life, and that is all that they care about.
What sickens me is that he doesn't give a shit about the world that will be left behind for his daughters and grandchildren to live in. I don't care what anyone says about him as a person, because all I see is a selfish, uncaring, manipulative bully.

And I know full well that if his daddy didn't have money, if his granddaddy hadn't made a killing working with the Nazi party, he would just be a drunken used car salesmen somewhere. (No disrespect to used car salesmen, but you have to admit, some in your field have been known to be a bit sleazy)

14. the damn bastard is jealous of gore and is intimidated by gore's knowledge
Edited on Mon May-22-06 04:40 PM by flordehinojos
presence and clarity of speech...therefore, he must put gore down, on this occassion he is putting him down by saying that he, "doubts", he'll see the gore movie..so, he uses emotional abuse against gore and against anyone who thinks about adn wants to see the gore movie...he must make them feel like they are sh*t just for wanting to see an al-gore movie (you know, he can't waist his time on gore and neither should you)...he will wake up to the rude awakening that people respect gore, that they value him, his opinions, and his clarity of speech...something none of the bushes has going for them.

edited to add: they are all (the bushes all) afraid of facing any kinds of truths...including the truth of global warming.

20. Such a diplomat!
All the little bastard had to do was say, "Yeah, I'll probably watch it." That's what a uniter would say. This is "Who cares about your opinion" in bold. Has Bush ever done anything to be president of all Americans?

I long ago accepted that Bush speaks in syllables; that words, IOW (heh), hold no meaning for him.

28. like the person who caused the accident, whining "we don't need a report"
... when he knows very well that he will be identified as the culprit. Kind of reminds me of the incompetent executioner in Gilbert and Sullivan's "The Mikado", who assigns blame to other people when things go wrong, but quickly changes the subject ("it doesn't matter who did this") as soon as it becomes evident that he was responsible.

Not to say that Bush got us into this mess all by himself, but he's allied himself so closely with big petroleum and polluting industries that to admit he's let that blind him would be an admission of personal failure ... something he tries to avoid at all costs.

29. He wouldn't want to see what his corporate cronyism has helped
destroy, he wouldn't want to know what a real leader looks like. He's still pissed that he only got "elected" in 2000, not by the people but by the five partisan hacks on the Supreme Court. He's pissed because he knows that President Gore is a thousand times the President he could only hope too be. Stew in your own juices, georgie! You bought it, you broke it, and you own it. Damn shame you refuse to fix it.
