Perfect rebuttal to: "We will not have civil liberties if we are dead."
Edited on Thu May-18-06 09:41 AM by rpgamerd00d
Here it is, memorize it:

"What good is a life without Freedom?
I mean, we're all going to die anyway, that's a given, and we can't change that.
But do you want to live a life with freedom before you die, or live a life without freedom?
Give me liberty, or give me death!"

1. No. The response is, "They're taking our civil liberties,
But they're not doing a damned thing to keep us alive."

13. I agree.
In fact there's no proof that taking away civil liberties has made anyone safer.

6. Absolutely. What about our life while we're alive?
The American Revolution was notcomposed of quivering, fearful types...

What about "Give me liberty or give me death."?

I guess in this day and age, our new national motto is..."please don't hurt me." MKJ

16. Could also ask if they would have been Loyalists in 1776
When they say they don't have anything to hide and don't care if the government searches them without a warrant. They would have been Loyalists in 1776, or at least mightily inconvenienced by the Revolution, because it was over something they don't care about. One of the grievances was something to do with the general search power the British claimed. One of the things that the colonists were angry about.

26. You are more likely to die to a lightning strike than terrorism.
Stay in your house for the rest of your life.

Or...

Accept risk and live your life to the fullest.

No pressure.

25. Osama and the terrorists have won . . .
they have accomplished their goal. You are living in fear and giving up your liberties. I'm sure the terrorists feel quite satisfied with what they've done. IF they really did, "hate us for our freedom" I guess they don't hate us any more 'cause we certainly ain't free no more.

That's what I tell these people.

That statement has endured for a very good reason.
