Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" has Hollywood premiere
ABC 7 News: Stars Come Out for Gore's Documentary
Wednesday May 17, 2006

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Hollywood rolled out the green carpet Tuesday for former Vice President Al Gore and his global-warming documentary, "An Inconvenient Truth." Actors and activists attended the opening of the film, which argues that global warming is imminent and potentially catastrophic.

Sharon Stone, David Duchovny and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" star Larry David, as well as comedian Garry Shandling, were among the star-studded crowd, where guests walked a green carpet instead of the traditional red.

"It's just the environment and planet, that's all," Shandling said.

One event sponsor, Hewlett-Packard, brought guests from a hotel in a vehicle powered by biofuel instead of gasoline.

Others attending included snowboarder and Olympic gold medalist Shaun White, who said he was interested in global warming because he believed it had reduced snow pack....

1. My son went to screening Gore hosted in Seattle last week
Edited on Wed May-17-06 04:10 PM by Divernan
And my son is a just-the-facts kind of environmentalist/reporter/author. He was very impressed with the film, and very impressed with Gore as a person & Gore's remarks following the film. And I was surprised how thrilled my very serious son was to be introduced to Gore and to shake his hand. One of Gore's purposes in these screenings to targeted audiences is to ask them to get the word out to ask your local movie theaters to schedule this film.

Here's the link to the trailer for the film. Watch it. It will scare the bejeebus out of you.

This film got three standing ovations at the Sundance Film Festival. It documents global changes over the past years, and they are stunning and shocking. If you care about your children, if you care about your grandchildren, if you care about this planet, you need to see this film.

2. I'm so glad that Gore is back in the spot light...
working for things that he believes in. Thousands of scientists from around the world acknowledge global warming, it is sick and insulting that the Bush administration would even attempt to deny this, not an American issue, but an issue that effects the planet and humanity as a whole.

6. I can't hardly wait for it to play here
We have a couple of cinemas that cater to independent film fans, and I really want to see Gore's documentary on the dire straits our planet is in.
