I was at a seminar today

and we were discussing cultural practices in healthcare and that every patient has a right for their culture to be respected, even if we don't understand or agree with it.
So anyway, the lady giving the lecture was going on about the differences in cultures that allow people to get well and the practices that are unique to their culture. For instance, cupping.
She then went on to talk about middle-class white America and the fact that we are a "little purple pill society"--in other words, we see it on TV and want it. Think we cannot live without it.
She then said "Unless of course you are Rush Limbaugh--then you are a several dozen purple pill society"...and under her breath stated he got off wayyyyy too easily.

However, there were a lot of young people there.
I don't think they understood exactly what the reference was.
