it would be funny - but on the cross - I can see where some may find it offensive.

It's like this joke:
Jesus and Satan were having an ongoing argument about who was better on his computer. They had been going at it for days, and God was tired of hearing all of the bickering. Finally God said, "Cool it. I am going to set up a test that will run two hours and I will judge who does the better job."

Not because it was a religious figure in a joke, but because being on a cross would be bloody painful. And seeing someone in pain being in a joke made me feel a bit sick.

I would not have said anything, if it makes other people laugh that's good enough reason to me to just ignore it. But as you brought the issue up, I'm telling you my reactions.

I'm another of those who believes in a god of laughter rather than a god of fire and brimstone, and I'm certain she's more concerned about how we treat others than what we laugh at.
