America: From Freedom to Fascism to screen at Cannes, May 22nd

The Film

Determined to find the law that requires American citizens to pay income tax, producer Aaron Russo ("The Rose," "Trading Places") set out on a journey to find the evidence. This film which is neither left, nor right-wing is a startling examination of government. It exposes the systematic erosion of civil liberties in America since 1913 when the Federal Reserve system was fraudulently created. Through interviews with U.S. Congressmen, a former IRS Commissioner, former IRS and FBI agents and tax attorneys and authors, Russo connects the dots between money creation, federal income tax, and the national identity card which becomes law in May 2008. This ID card will use Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) chips which are essentially homing devices used to track people. This film shows in great detail and undeniable facts that America is moving headlong into a fascist police state. Wake up!

Primary Objectives

* Stop the polarization of America
* Stop the domination of the Democratic and Republican parties over our political system
* Shut down the Federal Reserve system
* Return America's gold to Fort Knox and have it audited
* Have Congress and the IRS, in a public forum, reveal the law that requires Americans to pay a direct, unapportioned tax on their labor.
* Make computerized voting illegal in all 50 states
* Keep the internet free and out of the control of large institutions
* Rescind the law called the Real ID Act so Americans never have to carry a National ID Card
* Make it illegal to implant RFID chips in human beings
* Educate juries to the fact that they have the right to determine the law as well as the facts of a case
* Educate juries to the fact that they are not obligated to follow the instructions of a judge
* Stop Globalization because it is the path to a one world government
* Protect our borders
* Restore the environment
* Put an end to the Patriot Act
* Sign up millions of Americans so we can accomplish our objectives

1. Um... has this guy never heard of the 16th amendment?
Amendment XVI - Status of Income Tax Clarified. Ratified 2/3/1913.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

2. Of course he has
I imagine that reply was not meant to be condescending as the 16th amendment is the core of the issue.

The proper ratification of the amendment, and the Supreme Court rulings that ensued are the crux of that aspect of the message.

This is a good subject for discussion and controversy, but to many, the evidence is irrefutable when investigated and understood.

I think the tables have finally started to turn on this and it is metamorphosing from a fringe, "tax protester" conspiracy wing to a very viable and necessary topic that requires exposure and careful scrutiny by the people of this country. Tacit belief in the current income tax seems to be more compelling than many of the facts involved and the implications that this amendment has had since its proposal.

Or, we could just go on playing this game, complaining about amounts and who has to pay what ;) That is functional in the current class warfare camp based on the cuts to the wealthy right now.

There are plenty of other taxes that pay the actual bills. Right now, the income tax is paying the debt on what the Federal Government borrows and wastes, IMO.

Of course, there are many other, empowering issues covered by the film that are timely, important, and even vital to our future liberty.

3. Sorry I came off condescending...
I just don't get the tax-protestor view on the 16th. The amendment was properly ratified by well in excess of the three-quarters of states necessary. So what's the problem?

4. Please forgive my ignorance, but what other taxes support the
federal government?

The social security and medicare taxes are targetted. They don't support the national infrastructure, the military, or anything other that what they were created to support. All the other taxes I can think of are local and state taxes - they don't support the federal government.

What am I missing?

5. My apology on this topic ....
I neglected to give any links to the film site or useful information :(

Site about the film:
http://www.freedomtofascism.com/

Some sites that cover issues worth considering:

http://www.thelawthatneverwas.com/new/home.asp
http://www.861.info/
http://www.wealth4freedom.com/law/irs-cases.htm
http://givemeliberty.org/docs/TaxResearchCD/Attach2-Overview.htm

This is not a "lite" subject, and there are complex, legalistic aspects to it.

I am not, (nor is the producer of the film) encouraging anyone to challenge the IRS or not pay taxes. It is more important that we are aware of what we are being compelled to do and why. From there, it becomes a personal stance or decision and a growing voice.

If it seems incredible to you that something like the income tax could have continued to be enforced in a questionable manner, think about a pResident -- a fellow citizen and a PUBLIC SERVANT -- who has declared himself above and beyond the laws of the land, and yet, remains in office. Obviously, anything that can be "gotten away with" just may be, if we neglect our duty to be informed and to inspect the structures we are supporting.
