10. idea
start planning it earlier and be more specific. ;-)

i'm all about radical and i'm all about organizing and participating in protests. but if people on du got serious about actually organizing a protest, we could pull a lot of stuff off. and we have these message boards for everybody to keep in touch, state forums for planning, and so on. it really is an excellent network that people can really take advantage of.

basically, in the three protests i've been involved in organizing (on campus, by the way) we got 100-200 people with a weeks preperation, 2,000 with a month's preperation, and 900 with a month's preperation (on a day that it was raining very hard).

if people are serious about actually using DU to form networks to advance rallies, street protests, direct action, and other stuff that would be awesome and i'd totally dig it.

it's an idea often brought up on DU, but not really carried through with, probably for a number of reasons (people are busy, don't have experience organizing protests, et cetera).

12. I've Posted About This Many Times & Have Asked For Help....
I'm posted at my state and almost everywhere else. RARELY do I get ANY reply. I've written so much about this topic.

I will admit I have asked if there were others, higher ups, insiders or ANYONE who know how to go about doing this. I live in a VERY VERY red county, and it's hard to even get "helpers" for local events.

I would be willing to go to Tallahassee, even D.C. even though it would be financially difficult, but I need help!!

13. living in a red county is really a bummer
i'm a student in minneapolis, but over the summer i live in a very conservative county in pennsylvania. you really need a good base of devoted people to even get something started. how to actually start the base, i'm not sure. when i came to minneapolis there was already a pretty good community here, and i kind of got in on the ground floor of the rebuilding of the student movement, but most people already had contacts with other organizations so it was pretty easy to find our niche, and just be able to focus on campus with some help starting up from other oganizations.

14. Well, I'm A Boomer & Don't attend School AND It So Happens
that MY red county is the county that's represented by Katherine (Cruella) Harris.

Difficult! But I have joined up with many places, one of my favorite is Florida For Peach out of New College in Sarasota. I really admire what they try to do, but they are students and many don't have a lot of money. They have organized some good stuff and I've attended all of it.

It's the people of my generation who are sitting on their rears pretty much. I am going to a meeting this week-end, don't know what it's called yet but was told about it from someone I was volunteering with to get paper ballots here in our county. They meet the 3rd Saturday of each month so I hope it's got some activism.

I recently went to one that is connected with Dennis Kucinich, but there didn't seem to be much activism going on. Oh, they were very committed, but basically they seemed to be just promoting more meetings to go to or speeches to attend. Then when I found out that they had been meeting for almost 2 years and there were only about 40 people there.... well you know!
