First, George, now Dick ...(can't get a hotel room)
Edited on Thu May-11-06 11:40 PM by TomInTib
georgie had Mick, Deadeye has Julie Andrews and Marvin Hamlisch.

Leah Garchik in the San Francisco Chronicle (5/11/2006)

Guess who may be coming to visit? I hear that the Mandarin Oriental hotel, where Dick Cheney stayed when he was here a year ago, was asked by the veep's staff whether they could accommodate him around May 22. The hotel said no.

The refusal wasn't because of his politics and it wasn't because he'd stolen a bathrobe last time (he probably has a closetful of extra-thick terry-cloth robes emblazoned with the vice presidential seal). And it wasn't fears that -- although the latest Vanity Fair reports that many former friends of once good-guy Cheney think he's turned into an ogre -- he'd be a rock 'n' roll-type room wrecker.

The hotel was honoring other commitments. Julie Andrews and Marvin Hamlisch, here to appear at the May 22 Reach for Tomorrow, Research Today benefit for stem cell research, were already booked into the best rooms.

3. "...were already booked into the best rooms."
Heaven forbid that Cheney stay in anything that's not "the best room." :eyes:

Even with his obvious Secret Service needs, wouldn't a regular old nice room suffice?

4. Bubbula, I am loving this!
Sorry, one of the very things you're trying to squash (stem cell research) is keeping you from getting digs for the night.

   :nopity:
