6. it hits us - but I bet my *relief* is substantially less impressive than
the rich guys.....

they'll include a few of us alternative min taxers so they can try to sell the cut as helping middle america - a total crock of course, but since when has truth mattered to repukes?

9. I will be glad to see AMT go
I amuses me to hear the high seniority Federal legislators complaining about tax loopholes, many of which they helped instigate. They in turn get pissy when someone takes their rules and beat the system they set up. The basic issue is using taxes as an instrument of social policy. Its really a major mistake. Tax system really needs to lose incentives to thus and so an concentrate on fair revenue generation. It should reward savings and very little else.

3. Was it the NY Times that said...
Millionaires get like $82,000 in tax breaks, the middle class gets $20.

4. Did they raise the debt ceiling too? Very unwise with this filthy war
costing more each day. It just shows this congress is irresponsible and needs to go.

7. Mixed, bag, just going from your post.
We don't have tv.

The AMT hits middle class people, primarily in blue states where wages are generally higher. This is a good thing, overall. The AMT assumed that the lower limits of wealthy in 2005 was the same dollar amount as in what, 1969?

8. This will last exactly as long as it takes to get our people back in.
We just have to make sure the votes are counted correctly.
