Alito: Either lying then, or lying now.
If being a member of an organization was significant enough that you would put it on your resume, you'd remember it.

There is a reason he might not remember being a member of CAP, however. That would be if he really WAS never a member, but just lied and put that on his resume.

Either that, or he actually was a member, but sees how that could be a black mark now, and has no problem lying about it.

So, either he was lying then, or he is lying now. Period.

4. That was my thought.
There is just no good way to see his response.

I don't think his memory is totally unreliable because his memory in so many other areas seems intact.

I have thought of a third possibility. Perhaps he KNOWS he lied on the resume, and now he is lying yet again to cover that fact up.

This can be resolved simply. There must be a membership roster somewhere. Was he a member? That will reveal when he lied. Then, and/or now.

3. Oh, but aren't those
just "little white lies." Or maybe a secretary or law clerk did it.

Maybe he has an exceptionally broad view of what the truth consists of.

Interesting--I don't know which I find more appalling--the dissimilitude or the lack of ethics. Maybe they just merge.
