9. WUSA9.com - Alcohol NOT involved
http://www.wusatv9.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=49033

Rep. Kennedy was reportedly behind the wheel of a green Ford Mustang when it crashed into a security barrier at 1st and "C" streets Southeast.

There are no reports of injuries. A Boston TV station is reporting Kennedy told officers he was late for a vote. We are told police drove him home after conferring with higher-ups in the department. So far, Kennedy HAS NOT been charged. A spokesman for his office told CNN that alcohol was NOT involved.

The head of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 1, Lou Cannon, told 9 News that he’s concerned that Kennedy may have received special treatment and this could be a case where “rank has its privilege.”

9 News reporter Stacey Cohan spoke to Kennedy's press secretary at his congressional office in Rhode Island, who said she is looking into the situation, but does not have any information right now.

15. Late for a vote? 3 hours late!
According to RollCall, the House had adjourned 3 hours before this incident. When drinking and driving, don't say things that can be checked on.

11. CNN is reporting
Kennedy said he was late for a vote at 3AM.

Also that the car was swerving before it hit the wall.

And did he get special treatment?

Why was he not tested for alcohol?

23. This may be a pattern
Two weeks ago it was Cynthia McKinney. Here is the way this works: Republican screw up = no coverage..let off the hook. Democrat screws up = wall-to-wall coverage on all cable networks where the questions IMMEDIATELY asked are worst-case scenarios.

Did cable news breathlessly report the news about the Jankalow incident? Not hardly.
Did the media right away or not Cheney was drunk when he shot someone in the face? No.

All Democratic mistakes will be amplified before the 2006 elections, especially Congressional races, and especially the House. The Republicans are desperate and their bought and paid for media will do anything they can to serve that end.

25. Get in front.
Alcohol not involved?

Green Mustang.

3AM, streets deserted.

Driver is male.

So, if it were me, in tht car, and I was not drinking, but I was engaged in some not-so-safe behaviour, what would I be doing?

Let's just say that I HAVE spun out in a sports car more than once in the wee, wee hours of the morning.

Sounds like a nice, high-speed four-wheel drift gone awry.

So, if any rightards come your way, you know what to say.

34. Fitzgerald must be preparing Rove's indictments.
Also, we need to investigate this police union person. Who is he to determine whether or not any "preferential treatment" was given? He was NOT on the scene.
