A little Colbert FLASH for you all

I tried to get the day shift to watch my first Colbert FLASH on Huffington post. The thread bombed. In the meantime, I've removed both my entries cause that stupid contest is a sham.

While I watched Colbert skewer the reporters that scene in "His Girl Friday" where Hildy comes back into the press room after escorting Mollie out and says "Gentlemen of the press..." kept repeating in my mind...

Walter would have hired Colbert on the spot! :7

2. Ain't that the bestest movie?

My kid wants to be a reporter. So I decided it would be cool to watch a few "newsy" films. The first one I chose was "His Girl Friday". BIG MISTAKE. The kid was ready to find another career after seeing it. "Those people are awful!"

Then I showed "All the President's Men". The faith in the press was restored.

Sad truth is, newsrooms like WaPo in the seventies don't exist anymore.

You are right. Newsrooms like the one in All the President's Men don't exist anymore... but I see independent internet sites starting to try to fill that gap. Hopefully our press will survive this admin too...
